Appliance Installation in Boulder, CO
Delivery crews set the box in place and leave. Whatever needed connecting, leveling, venting or converting is still waiting when they drive off, and in a Boulder house that gap is usually wider than average. We finish that part, and the full list of what we install is on our appliance installation page.
Why Installation Is Harder Here
Boulder restricted its own growth from 1959 onward, so most of the housing inside the city predates 1970. The kitchens have been renovated, often more than once, but the walls, doorways and service runs have not moved.
What that means in practice is a list of things worth confirming before delivery day. Doorways narrower than a modern refrigerator box, and cabinet runs shallower than current standard depth. A gas line terminating where the old range stood, or a dishwasher bay cut for a machine two inches shallower than anything sold today.
None of it is unusual, and none of it is a reason the appliance cannot go in. It is a reason to look before the delivery date rather than after.
The Older Core and the Newer Edges
On Mapleton Hill, in Whittier and around University Hill, the houses are Victorian and Craftsman, and the laundry is frequently in a basement with a vent run added decades after construction. That run matters when a dryer goes in, because a new machine inherits whatever restriction is already there. We check it as part of the installation and handle dryer vent cleaning where the duct needs clearing.
In Martin Acres, Table Mesa and Newlands the houses are 1950s and 1960s and the constraint shifts to cabinet dimensions rather than the building itself. Out toward Gunbarrel and East Boulder the construction is newer and the connections usually straightforward, and what we find instead is a shutoff valve or supply line untouched since the house was built.
How an Installation Call Works
Tell us the appliance and the address when you book, and we will confirm a two-hour arrival window. The technician checks the connection, levels and secures the unit, tests it under load and takes the packaging away. For a gas range or a hard-plumbed line, the connection gets leak-checked before we leave.
If the old appliance turns out to be repairable rather than finished, we say so, and appliance repair in Boulder runs through the same technicians. We do not sell appliances, so that advice costs you nothing either way. Every installation carries a 100-day warranty on parts and labor, the same as everywhere else in the Denver Metro Area we cover.
Installed, Tested and Covered
Every installation we complete in Boulder is covered for 100 days on parts and labor. Connections get tested under load before we leave, and gas and water lines are leak-checked across the Denver Metro Area.

Installing Across Boulder, From University Place to Dakota Ridge
An installation in Boulder changes with the street. The same dishwasher can be a quick swap in one neighborhood and a half-day job a mile away. We plan the visit around the house, not just the appliance.
The Younger Subdivisions
Dakota Ridge, between Lee Hill Drive and Broadway, went up from the mid-1990s into the 2000s. Gunbarrel North, an annexed piece of the Gunbarrel area off Lookout Road, dates from the 1990s, and most of Gunbarrel beyond it is unincorporated county. In both, the machine going in may be only the second or third in that spot. The shutoff valve and supply line behind it are often the originals, so we test the valve before we connect anything.
Bungalows, Cottages and Mid-Century Ranches
University Place holds bungalows, some from the 1920s, and the Chautauqua cottages go back to 1898. Openings in houses that age were cut for much smaller machines, and a gas range may meet an old connection. A dryer may also need a 240V circuit the laundry space never had. We tell you at the visit when an electrician or a licensed gas fitter belongs on the job.
Martin Acres and Majestic Heights are compact ranch neighborhoods from the 1950s and 1960s. In a compact ranch the laundry often sits in a tight closet or a basement corner, and the dryer vent has to find its way out through an older wall. We measure the closet depth with the door closed, because a modern front-loader plus its hoses can run deeper than the old top-loader. If the closet is too shallow, a stacked pair may fit where a side-by-side pair will not.
Tri-Levels and Townhomes
Devils Thumb and Shanahan Ridge added tri-levels and two-story homes in the 1970s and 1980s. Half-level stairs make a refrigerator delivery a planning job, so measure the turns as well as the doorways. On Wonderland Hill, townhomes on hillside lots can mean steps from the street and a stacked laundry in a closet.
Whittier mixes older houses with small condos near Pearl Street, and Mapleton Hill and Goss Grove sit in city neighborhood-parking zones. Tell us where a van can stop and whether the building has a shared entry when you book. Some condo buildings also set hours for deliveries, so check before the store books the drop. That saves the first half hour of the visit.
Rebuilt Kitchens
Many Newlands houses have been rebuilt, and those kitchens tend to carry built-in and panel-ready appliances. A panel-ready refrigerator or dishwasher has to match the cabinet opening and take the custom panel without binding. We check the opening, the anti-tip and mounting points, and the door swing against the cabinetry before the unit goes in. If the machine you are replacing is only faulty, our Boulder repair page covers what is worth fixing.
When to Call Wilson & Myers
Call before the appliance arrives rather than after. Measure the doorway the box has to come through, not just the opening it is going into, and measure cabinet depth as well as width. In a house built before 1970, assume the connection behind the old unit is not what the new one expects.

Appliance Installation in Boulder: Common Questions
Will a new refrigerator fit my older Boulder kitchen?
Often yes, but it is worth checking before you buy rather than on delivery day. Houses in the historic core have narrow doorways and shallow cabinet runs, and current models are deeper than the ones they replace. Send us the model and the opening dimensions including depth when you book.
Can you install an appliance the store delivered?
Yes, and that is most of this work. Delivery crews place the unit and stop there. We handle the connection, leveling, venting and testing, whether the appliance arrived yesterday or has been sitting in the garage for a week.
Do you handle gas connections?
We connect gas appliances and leak-check the connection before leaving. Where a job needs a new gas line run or work that belongs to a licensed gas fitter, we tell you at the diagnostic rather than partway through.
Do you install in rental properties?
Yes. Rental properties near the university are a regular part of our work here, and we can coordinate access with a tenant or a property manager rather than needing the owner on site. Tell us the arrangement when you book.
Which Boulder areas do you install in?
All of 80301 through 80305: downtown, University Hill, Mapleton Hill, Whittier, Chautauqua, Newlands, North Boulder, Table Mesa, Martin Acres, South Boulder, East Boulder and Gunbarrel, on both sides of the city line. Neighboring Louisville and Lafayette are in the same dispatch zone.
