Census tracts show the southern end with median build years in the mid-1960s and the far northern edge around 2010, a gap of roughly forty-five years inside one city. Census puts the median home for the city as a whole at 1987.
The scale runs steadily: the oldest neighborhoods sit at the southern boundary, the middle of the city dates from the late 1970s through the 1980s, and the newest development lies at the northern edge.
Two shopping districts here are often confused. The Promenade opened in 1998 on the northwest side near US 36. Downtown Westminster is a separate, newer development on the southeast side, built since 2011 on the site of a demolished mall.
Westminster started in the south. Harris Park, the original townsite around 72nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard, was platted in 1891 and kept growing through the 1950s. Small lots and landmarks such as Bowles House, built in 1881, mark it as the historic core.
Post-war building spread out from there. Skyline Vista, between Federal Boulevard and Zuni Street near 75th Avenue, is 1950s single-family housing. Westminster Hills, near 83rd Avenue, is a small subdivision of 1950s and 1960s homes. Wood Creek, near Sheridan around 75th, came later, and its mail reads Arvada even though it sits inside Westminster.
The south also holds the newest construction. Downtown Westminster, on the former mall site between 88th and 92nd Avenues, has added apartments and townhomes over shops since 2019. Uplands, between 84th and 88th Avenues, began building in October 2023 and is planned for up to 2,350 homes.
The middle band is mostly 1970s and 1980s. Hyland Greens sits near Sheridan around 100th Avenue, and Sheridan Green lies west of Sheridan near 112th. Toward Wadsworth Parkway, Kings Mill mixes single-family homes with townhouses. The Standley Lake subdivision went up in the late 1970s southeast of the reservoir, which is itself inside Westminster.
Countryside, near the lake, and Walnut Grove fill the northwest, and Westcliff and Church Ranch add 1980s, 1990s and 2000s homes near Wadsworth. In the north, Legacy Ridge surrounds its golf course near Lowell Boulevard, and The Ranch centers on its country club near Pecos Street. Bradburn Village, south of 120th Avenue, was built from 2002 as a walkable neighborhood with a village core.
Highlands at Westbury is often listed under Northglenn, but it is in Westminster. The reverse also happens: Shaw Heights uses a Westminster 80031 address yet is unincorporated Adams County, and Federal Heights is a separate city wedged inside Westminster. The city itself straddles Adams and Jefferson counties.
For appliances, that range matters. A Skyline Vista kitchen and a Bradburn Village kitchen differ in the gas connection, the wiring and the size of every opening.
Call while the appliance is failing rather than after it has stopped. Watch for cooling that drifts, a cycle taking twice as long as it used to, or a burner that lights on the third try. These are the cheapest repairs and the ones most likely to close on the first visit. For any refrigerator running warm, call sooner, because a compressor working against a failing seal tends to take itself out.
