Wilson & Myers in Golden, CO
Golden, Colorado is a small part of what carries a Golden address: the postal area is several times larger and takes in Applewood, Genesee and Pleasant View. We cover the city and all of it.
How We Work in Golden
Most people arrive here with one of a few different problems, and each service has its own page with the detail that matters.
Residential appliance repair is the largest part of our Golden work. Appliance installation covers the part a delivery crew leaves undone, from laundry hook-ups and water lines to wall ovens and range hoods. Commercial appliance service handles refrigeration, ice machines, dish machines and cooking equipment for local businesses.
If you are not sure which one you need, book anyway and describe the machine. Sorting that out is our job, not yours.
Where Our Technicians Go
Our coverage runs to 80401 and 80403, which extend well beyond the city limits, across downtown and the streets near the School of Mines, plus the Golden-addressed areas including Applewood, Genesee and Pleasant View.
Neighboring Lakewood, Arvada, Wheat Ridge and Morrison sit in the same dispatch zone and see comparable response times, across the Denver Metro Area we cover.
Why Golden Households Call Us Back
The technician who diagnoses your appliance is the one who repairs it. There is no dispatch center in the middle passing the job to a subcontractor, and no handoff between a diagnostic visit and a repair crew. Wilson & Myers is family-owned rather than a franchise, and the person giving you the estimate is the person who has to stand behind it.
Estimates come before work, in plain terms, naming the part and the labor. Nothing gets opened up until you approve the number. On refrigeration our technicians are EPA-608 certified, the credential that covers sealed systems and refrigerant handling. All technicians are insured.
Local Coverage Without a Local-Only Parts Problem
We cover 32 cities across the Denver Metro Area. That scale is why a student rental near the School of Mines and a built-in unit in a Genesee house are both routine rather than a special order nobody has seen before.
About us
The City Is a Fraction of the Golden Address
Golden the city holds about twenty thousand people. The postal areas carrying the Golden name hold more than sixty thousand, across roughly twenty times the land area. The city says so itself on its own website, warning that a mailing address is not a good indicator of whether you are inside the city.
Inside the limits are the Coors brewery, the Colorado School of Mines and the county courthouse. Carrying a Golden address but outside them are NREL, the Colorado Railroad Museum, both Table Mountains, Applewood, Fairmount, Genesee and Pleasant View. We cover all of it.
The housing inside the city is older than the metro average, with more than four in ten homes built before 1980 and only about one in ten since 2010. Census puts the median home at 1986. Renters make up around forty percent of households, which reflects the university.
How Golden Fits Together, Neighborhood by Neighborhood
The oldest Golden streets sit on the grid around Washington Avenue. The 12th Street Historic District, between 11th and 13th Streets and Elm and Arapahoe, keeps brick and frame homes from the 1870s to 1920. College Hill sits beside the Colorado School of Mines campus, and the 8th and 9th Street neighborhood runs between Clear Creek and SH 58. Goosetown, on the north edge of downtown, grew up as a working neighborhood next to industry.
South of downtown, the East Street Historic District (Central Golden) mixes original homes on 1860s lots with 1950s and 1960s houses and newer construction. Beverly Heights was approved in 1959 between 19th Street and US 6, at the base of Lookout Mountain. It has semi-custom ranches and multi-level homes on larger lots. Fossil Trace, south of the School of Mines beside the golf course, adds two-story homes with Craftsman touches and stone.
East of I-70 and south of US 6, Golden Heights and Golden Hills were platted in 1963 and 1964, one year apart. Both filled in from mid-1960s ranches to 1980s multi-story homes and are fully built out today. Multi-story plans there can put the laundry on a different floor from the kitchen.
North Golden, above SH 58, grew in three waves. Early 1900s homes sit near downtown, Sunshine Park is a 1950s postwar subdivision, and Mesa Meadows dates from the 1990s. Canyon Point and Canyon View, out by SH 93, followed from the late 1990s into the mid-2000s with larger contemporary homes. Canyon Point also takes in villas and cottages.
The South Neighborhoods follow the foothills south of 6th Avenue. Golden Ridge has condominiums planned in the 1990s near the W Line station. Heritage Hills and Tripp Ranch sit along the foothills next to open space. Golden Terrace, near West Colfax, is a manufactured-home and RV community the city plans to preserve.
For appliances, that spread matters. The grid brings small kitchens and old hookups. The postwar neighborhoods bring stairs and dated laundry spaces, and the 1990s subdivisions are into their second round of replacements.
When to Call Wilson & Myers
Call while the appliance is failing rather than after it has stopped. Watch for cooling that drifts, a cycle taking twice as long as it used to, or a burner that lights on the third try. These are the cheapest repairs and the ones most likely to close on the first visit. For any refrigerator running warm, call sooner, because a compressor working against a failing seal tends to take itself out.
For a new appliance, call before it is delivered. A short conversation about what is behind the old unit saves a return trip, and occasionally saves you from buying something that will not fit the space.
Appliance Service in Golden, CO: Common Questions
What services do you offer in Golden?
Which areas do you cover?
We cover 80401 and 80403, which extend well beyond the city limits, across downtown and the streets near the School of Mines, plus the Golden-addressed areas including Applewood, Genesee and Pleasant View. Neighboring cities are in the same dispatch zone, so an address near a boundary changes nothing for booking.
How soon can someone come out?
For a call received before noon we can usually get a technician out that afternoon, and evening slots open when the daytime schedule allows. We confirm a two-hour arrival window when you book. What we commit to is that window rather than a finish time, because how long a job takes depends on what the technician finds.
What does the warranty cover?
Every repair and installation we complete in Golden carries a 100-day warranty on parts and labor. If the same fault returns inside that window, we come back and put it right under the warranty. The cover applies to the specific work performed and the parts we fitted doing it.
