Morrison Valley is the south planning area, following Highway 8 below downtown. Across the whole town, about half the homes went up in the 1950s and 1960s, on top of the prewar core. That makes original gas stubs, older laundry hookups and shallow cabinet runs a town-wide pattern rather than a downtown one.
Rooney Valley is the east planning area, out at Rooney Road and C-470. The valley is shared by Morrison, Lakewood and unincorporated Jefferson County, and the town’s part is where its growth is planned. The former Bandimere Speedway site, about 125 acres, now sits inside town limits and is zoned for a vehicle auction. A 39-acre sports complex is proposed nearby.
Several places people link with the town sit just outside its line. Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is Denver Mountain Parks land in unincorporated Jefferson County. Dinosaur Ridge is Jefferson County Open Space, and The Fort restaurant on Highway 8 also sits in the county. Willowbrook, a 1962 neighborhood of acre-plus lots, and Red Rocks Ranch carry Morrison addresses but lie outside the town as well.
Call while the appliance is failing rather than after it has stopped. Watch for cooling that drifts, a cycle taking twice as long as it used to, or a burner that lights on the third try.
