A Frigidaire oven not heating can come down to a setting rather than a part. Before you book a repair, two checks cost nothing and take under a minute: the clock after a power outage, and showroom mode on a 36-inch Professional. This guide walks the gas and electric paths in order so you know what needs attention before calling anyone.
| What you see | Most likely cause | First step |
|---|---|---|
| Clock flashing 12:00, oven cold | Clock lockout after power outage | Press CLOCK, set time, press CLOCK again to confirm. |
| 36-inch Professional shows 5d | Demo mode active | Power cycle; call Frigidaire support if display returns. |
| Gas igniter glows, bake burner cold | Weak igniter or gas safety valve | Confirm gas supply on; check igniter glow duration. |
| Electric oven cold, clock works | Half-tripped breaker | Reset breaker firmly OFF then ON. |
| Bake cold, broil works | Frigidaire Gallery bake element failed | Remove floor panel; inspect or test element. |
| F30 or F31 on display | Temperature sensor fault | Test temperature sensor resistance at room temperature. |

Recall before repair: CPSC Recall 26-333, issued March 19, 2026, covers about 174,800 Frigidaire gas ranges sold from June 2025 through January 2026. The hazard: delayed ignition of the oven’s bake burner, posing a burn risk. This Frigidaire oven recall 26-333 is the first check before any other diagnostic step.
Find the rating label inside the oven door frame or on the storage drawer frame. Recalled serial numbers run from VF52200000 through VF54399999. If your range falls in that range, the CPSC consumer instruction is direct: consumers should stop using ovens in the recalled ranges immediately.
The remedy goes through Electrolux Group, not through W&M. Electrolux Group will provide professional in-home installation of a new bake burner at no cost to consumers. Contact Electrolux through www.frigidaire.com to arrange the free repair. The recalled lineup spans 23 gas range models across five prefix families; the PCFG3080AF is the single Professional model among them.
For Frigidaire oven issues outside the recall range, our insured technicians service gas and electric ranges across Denver and Aurora. See our Frigidaire oven repair page when you are ready to book.
On a Frigidaire gas oven not heating, the two lowest-cost explanations come before any component diagnosis: a clock that was not reset after a power outage, and a showroom display mode on Professional models. Neither requires a part.
The Frigidaire Gas Range Use & Care Manual states it plainly under “Solutions To Common Problems”: “The time of day is not set. The oven clock must first be set in order to operate the oven.”
A power outage clears the clock, the display returns flashing “12:00,” and pressing Bake does nothing until the time of day is entered. This is the clock lockout behavior behind every Frigidaire oven clock flashing won’t heat call that follows a storm or power outage.
A clock reset after power outage is the most common free fix on a Frigidaire gas range. A clock reset check: press CLOCK, enter the current time, press CLOCK again to confirm. Test the oven. Ten seconds of work.
Frigidaire also publishes a safety instruction alongside the clock lockout note: do not operate an electric-ignition gas oven during a power failure, and set the oven controls to OFF. If the controls are left on, the igniter relights the bake burner by itself the moment power comes back.
In my experience, most Denver Metro homeowners do not know the clock is a prerequisite for oven operation. A call that opens with “we had a power outage last night” is the one where I check the clock before anything else.
The most common no-parts call we get on a Frigidaire range is a flashing clock after a power outage. That’s a ten-second fix. Always check the clock and the recall before ordering any parts.

On a Frigidaire Professional range showing 5d, the display and controls respond normally but no heat is produced. “5d” is a showroom display mode, not a fault code. Demo mode activation happens at the showroom floor and occasionally survives delivery on a new range. A power cycle sometimes clears it; if the range restarts and shows 5d again, contact Frigidaire support to deactivate demo mode, as no key sequence is documented in the brand’s range manuals.
The gas igniter heats until it draws enough current to open the gas safety valve; on a healthy range, the bake burner lights within 30 to 45 seconds. A weak igniter glows for 90 seconds or more without triggering the valve. When the Frigidaire gas oven igniter glows but won’t light the bake burner even after 60 seconds, the igniter is the first suspect. On recalled models in the VF52200000 through VF54399999 serial range, that presentation is the delayed bake burner ignition hazard driving the recall; on non-recalled ranges, it is igniter failure requiring replacement.

If the gas igniter glows for 45 to 60 seconds and the bake burner still does not light, the gas safety valve is the next suspect after confirming gas supply is open at the shutoff. The valve is current-sensing and will not release gas if the igniter current stays below its threshold; a failed valve causes total non-heating even when the igniter glows correctly. This is the case of a Frigidaire oven not heating but burners work. The stovetop and the oven bake burner draw from the same gas supply; a working cooktop proves only that gas is reaching the range, not that the oven valve is operating.
If you smell gas at any point, stop immediately. Gas odor during an ignition attempt belongs to a different safety path. See our gas oven smell guide. If the stovetop burners are also failing, see our gas oven not lighting article for that path.
On a Frigidaire electric oven not heating, start at the power supply before touching the oven. A half-tripped breaker and a calibration offset are both free fixes that come before any part replacement.
A double-pole breaker can lose one 120V leg without visibly tripping. When that happens, the clock and display stay on but the heating circuit loses the 240V it needs. A Frigidaire range not heating with a working display and no error code points here first. Reset the breaker by pushing firmly to OFF then to ON; both legs must engage for the bake and broil elements to receive power.
On most Frigidaire Gallery and Professional electric models, the bake element is a concealed bake element mounted under the oven floor panel. Frigidaire Gallery bake element not heating produces an oven that broils normally but produces no heat on bake. Access requires removing two screws and lifting the floor panel. Failure signs include a burn mark, a crack, or an open-circuit reading on a multimeter.

Zero continuity on a multimeter test confirms the thermal fuse has blown: the circuit is open, and no power cycle or breaker reset will restore it. The part must be replaced; unlike a breaker, a thermal fuse cannot trip back. It sits separate from the temperature sensor and the Electronic Oven Control, so error codes do not flag a blown fuse. Test it before assuming element failure on any Frigidaire oven that broils but will not bake.
Frigidaire oven uPo calibration is a temperature offset stored in the Electronic Oven Control; per the Frigidaire A manual, it adjusts in 5-degree increments up to 35 degrees F in either direction. Access: press and hold BAKE for six seconds, note the offset shown (such as “uPo 0” or “uPo -15”), adjust with the arrow pads, then press OFF to save. Temperature calibration at a large negative offset can explain an “oven not getting hot enough” complaint with no component failure at all. This is calibration before replacement: check the uPo offset before ordering a bake element.
A Frigidaire oven won’t heat after self-clean when the steam clean door lock fails to release; this is a door lock problem, not a heating component failure. After a steam clean cycle, the door lock motor can fail to release, and with the lock still engaged the oven cannot operate. Frigidaire error codes F90 through F94 all indicate door lock circuit faults; a power cycle, unplugging for five minutes, sometimes resets the lock. If F90 through F94 persist after the power cycle, the door lock assembly or the Electronic Oven Control needs repair.
Frigidaire’s published error code guide maps the heating-related codes to two components: the temperature sensor and the control board relay. F10, F30, and F31 each point to a different state on the same sensing circuit.

F10 (Thermal Runaway): The oven exceeded its safe temperature ceiling, or the temperature sensor is reading artificially low and causing the Electronic Oven Control to keep heating past the setpoint. Test the RTD probe at room temperature; parts-supplier data for the OEM sensor puts the normal band at 1,080 to 1,090 ohms. A reading within roughly 10 percent of 1,090 ohms is normal; a reading substantially outside that range confirms a sensor fault. A reading within the band combined with F10 more likely indicates a stuck relay on the control board.
F30 (Open Probe): A Frigidaire oven F30 code not heating condition means the temperature sensor circuit reads as an open connection. The Electronic Oven Control has no temperature data and will not allow heating. Check the wiring connector at the plug first; a damaged harness produces F30 without a failed sensor. If the wiring checks out, replace the temperature sensor.
F31 (Shorted Probe): The sensor circuit reads as shorted rather than open. Knowing how to check Frigidaire oven temperature sensor resistance is the diagnostic step: disconnect the connector and measure across the sensor terminals. A near-zero reading confirms a shorted sensor. A normal reading with F31 on the display points to the control board circuit, not the sensor.
Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional share most components but diverge on the features that cause unique no-heat presentations.
On a Professional, the 36-inch cavity means part numbers differ from the 30-inch Gallery, so confirm the model number before sourcing an igniter, bake element, or temperature sensor.
The FCRG3083AS and the majority of the 23 recalled models are 30-inch gas ranges. Gallery electric models use the concealed bake element as standard. Clock lockout after a power outage applies across the Gallery 30-inch range lineup, not just a single model.
On specialty 24-inch models such as the FCFE2425A, a cycling safety thermostat cuts and restores heat as the oven cools. Owners sometimes mistake this cycling for “not heating” when the oven is operating as designed.
The free steps cover the recall lookup, the clock reset, demo mode confirmation, the breaker reset, and the uPo calibration offset. Every step after that involves components: the gas igniter, gas safety valve, bake element, thermal fuse, temperature sensor, or Electronic Oven Control. Each of those requires a multimeter, parts sourcing, and safe disassembly access.
When the Frigidaire range not heating persists after the clock is set, the breaker is reset, and the recall is cleared, call Wilson & Myers. Our insured technicians service Frigidaire gas and electric ovens throughout Lakewood, Centennial, and Highlands Ranch, in addition to Denver and Aurora. We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts.
Gas safety valve replacement and any work on gas connections requires a licensed gas fitter. W&M handles the igniter system, the electrical side, and all diagnostic work on Frigidaire Gallery and Professional ovens. For broader oven context across all brands, see our oven not heating guide; for Frigidaire-specific service pages, use our oven repair page or wall oven repair page. Book online when you are ready.
Why is my Frigidaire oven not heating up?
The most common causes are a clock lockout after a power outage on 30-inch gas models, a half-tripped breaker on electric models, and a failed bake element or gas igniter. Check CPSC Recall 26-333 first if the range serial starts with VF5 and was purchased between June 2025 and January 2026.
How do I reset my Frigidaire oven that won't heat?
Start with the clock: press CLOCK, enter the current time, press CLOCK to confirm. That clears the clock lockout on Frigidaire 30-inch gas ranges. For electric models, reset the breaker first. If neither step resolves the issue, the problem is component-level and requires a technician with a multimeter.
What does F30 mean on a Frigidaire oven?
F30 is an Open Probe code: the temperature sensor circuit reads as an open connection. The Electronic Oven Control cannot get a temperature reading and locks out heating. Test the RTD probe connector; a damaged wiring harness produces F30 without a failed sensor. If the wiring checks out, replace the temperature sensor.
Why is my Frigidaire gas oven igniter glowing but not heating?
A glowing igniter that does not light the bake burner means the igniter is too weak to open the gas safety valve. The valve is current-sensing and opens only once the igniter has heated enough to draw sufficient current; a weak igniter never reaches that point no matter how long it glows. Replace the igniter when it glows for 90 or more seconds without lighting the bake burner. Confirm gas supply is on before the replacement.
How do I exit demo mode on a Frigidaire Professional range?
The 5d display on a Frigidaire Professional range is a showroom display mode, not a fault code. A power cycle sometimes clears it. If the range restarts and shows 5d again, Frigidaire support can deactivate demo mode on the control board. No key sequence for exiting demo mode on a range is published in Frigidaire’s range manuals.
Is my Frigidaire range on the 2026 recall list?
Check the rating label inside the oven door frame or on the storage drawer frame. Recall 26-333 covers serial numbers VF52200000 through VF54399999 on 23 gas range models, including the FCRG3083AS and PCFG3080AF. The ranges were sold June 2025 through January 2026. If your serial is in range, stop using the oven and contact Electrolux through www.frigidaire.com for the free repair.
