A Whirlpool dishwasher that will not drain, will not dry or will not start is a hiring decision before it is a technical one. You want someone who works on this brand, who can reach you, and who will say plainly when the machine does not need a repair at all. Wilson & Myers services Whirlpool dishwashers across the Denver Metro Area with insured technicians. Here is what we cover, what a Whirlpool dishwasher service visit involves, and how to book one.

Whirlpool dishwashers we service

We work on Whirlpool’s built-in top control dishwashers, on portable models, and on double drawer machines. Whirlpool portable dishwasher repair is part of the same service here, not an exception to it.

Whirlpool dishwasher models we service include:

  • WDT750SAKZ
  • WDT750SAHZ
  • WDT970SAKZ
  • WDT720PADM
  • WDTA50SAKZ
  • WDTS8024SZ
  • WDTS8024SV
  • WDPS8024SZ
  • WDP540HAMZ
  • WDP370PAHW

That list is a sample rather than a limit. If your model is not on it, ask anyway.

To take one as an example, the WDT750SAKZ is a 24 inch built-in top control dishwasher rated at 47 dBA. It carries a Sensor Cycle driven by Whirlpool’s AI Intelligent Wash, a Heated Dry Option, and a third level utensil rack with an adjustable second rack. Whirlpool puts its Eco Series name on that model’s product page and positions it on efficiency against the minimum 2023 Department of Energy standards.

Three Whirlpool details worth knowing before you call

Leak detection does not cover every leak

Whirlpool’s own page for the WDT750SAKZ says the Leak Identification System helps detect most types of leaks. The asterisked footnote then excludes the water inlet and tub drain connections, the hoses, and cracked tubs or doors. So on a machine carrying that system, water underneath and no warning showing is not a contradiction. We check those connections and hoses by hand, because the machine was never going to raise them.

A door that stopped opening itself may be a setting

Whirlpool documents that on certain models the door opening system can be turned on or off in a sub-menu. A dishwasher that used to pop its door at the end of a cycle and now sits closed may have had that setting changed rather than a part fail. That is worth ruling out before anyone pays for a visit. Not every machine has the feature, and the WDT750SAKZ above does not.

A fan that keeps running is normal

Whirlpool states that a fan running on after the cycle ends is normal, and that depending on the model it may run for up to eight hours, or until the door is opened. It sounds exactly like a fault and is not one, and we would rather say so here than send a technician to confirm it.

If your machine is showing a code on the display instead of running, one of those has its own write-up on our site, and that is the better place to start.

What happens on the visit

A Whirlpool dishwasher repair visit starts with the cheap checks, in a fixed order, because several of the complaints we get booked for share a cause that takes only a moment to rule out.

  • We ask for the model number when you book. On a built-in the rating tag sits on the left side of the tub frame; on a double drawer it is on the right side of the top drawer. Having it before the visit sets the parts route.
  • The technician checks that the supply line is on hot water. Whirlpool puts that one plumbing cause behind three separate complaints: poor wash, long cycle times and poor drying.
  • A machine that seems to stop mid cycle is checked against normal operation first. Whirlpool documents that the dishwasher pauses two or three times per cycle for thermal holds and moves on once the temperature is met.
  • Filters come out and go back correctly. The upper filter assembly has to lock into place, and Whirlpool warns that running the machine without the filters properly installed causes damage. A small amount of standing water in the filter area, about halfway up, is normal.
  • Levelling is checked on the legs and rear wheels, along with squareness in the cabinet, because a tub opening that is not square stops the door sealing. Whirlpool assigns that to the customer or installer, and we tell you when that is what we found rather than billing it as a repair.
  • On a newly installed machine that will not drain, the technician checks the garbage disposer knockout plug and the drain hose high loop before anyone condemns a pump.
  • An unresponsive console is checked against the control lock before a control board is discussed. Whirlpool’s control lock light flashes three times when a button is pressed while the lock is on, which is a locked machine rather than a failed one.
  • Cloudy glassware gets Whirlpool’s vinegar test before any work is quoted. Film and etching look alike, etching is irreversible, and if that is what it is we will tell you a repair does not fix it.

When the job does need a part, we source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts, and we fit and order OEM parts. Timing depends on whether the supplier has the part, and we tell you what we are waiting on rather than guess at a date.
