Marsal Gas Deck and Electric Countertop Ovens in Denver Metro

Before you book Marsal pizza oven repair, settle two things: is it a real fault, and is it warranty work or ours? Marsal’s own manuals and warranty sheet answer both. Past both warranty terms, or on an oven bought used, the repair is ours, and our insured technicians take it on across Denver Metro.

Which Marsal Is Yours: MB, SD, WF Wave or CT

Read the series letters on the rating plate first. A gas oven carries the plate inside the control door area; a CT carries it on the back. Marsal’s manuals also cover the MB 260, SD 248 and SD 260, and the Combo and EDO are discontinued. We take those on too, parts permitting, like the other makes we cover under commercial oven repair.

A plate that reads Middleby Marshall belongs to a different brand: a conveyor oven, covered on our Middleby Marshall conveyor oven page.

Marsal Error Codes: What the Oven Shows Instead

A gas MB, SD, slice or WF deck has no display and no indicator lamp. No Marsal manual lists an error code. The CT, the only current Marsal electric oven, displays time and temperature. The only display words its manual names are LOAD, when the oven is ready, and DONE, when the timer ends.

Behind the control door sit the red button on the safety pilot valve, the red main valve and the Robertshaw FDTH thermostat. There is no code to pull. Our technician reads those controls and the flames behind the burner door.

Normal Marsal Deck Behavior That Looks Like a Fault

Each line below names the point where normal ends. From there, the call is ours once both warranty terms are up, or on an oven bought used.

  • A 30-second hold: Keep the red button in until the probe in front of the pilot is hot. If the pilot goes out as you let go, light it again. A pilot that still goes out is a fault.
  • A 5-minute wait: After the pilot goes out, the gas manual calls for 5 minutes off before relighting. If it will not relight after the wait, that is a fault.
  • A small flame at temperature: The main burner throttles down to a bypass flame, no larger than 1/8 in at 500°F. A bigger flame needs a check of the capillary, calibration and bypass, in the service manual’s order.
  • A hot right side on a Wave: A Marsal Wave oven runs about 100°F hotter on the right. Start near the flame, move left, spin the product. Beyond that, uneven bakes point to gas supply or draft, which we trace.

How to Light Marsal Pizza Oven Pilots, and Why They Go Out

An MB, SD or slice deck has no electronic ignition. You light the pilot by hand while holding the red button. Only the WF side burner lights itself.

Marsal’s service manual lists nine causes for a pilot that keeps going out, in order. Six are not failed parts. They are thermocouple position, weak draft, strong draft, fan or register air, a low flame and a dirty orifice.

The last three are a defective thermocouple, a defective safety pilot valve and a gas leak at the orifice fitting. We follow the manual’s order. We adjust and clean first, and replace a part only when nothing else cures it.

Decks That Run Hot, Soot Up or Fall Behind

On the Robertshaw FDTH thermostat, screw B under the dial sets the bypass flame. If a thermometer in the center of the deck reads within 10°F of the dial, the manual leaves calibration alone. Calibration, bypass and a cut or bent capillary are never warranty work. We set those figures before we condemn a thermostat.

Yellow tips or soot mean too little primary air. The air shutter should be open 1/8 in to 3/16 in and free of flour dust. Long, lazy flames that roll around the chamber mean too little secondary air, from venting or missing make-up air.

For a deck that falls behind at busy times, the manual’s list starts with low gas pressure, undersized lines and extra regulators, then draft. Draft also shows as burnt bottoms and pale tops. If the hood above the oven is the trouble, our commercial hood repair service covers that side.

SD Spring Doors, MB Counterweights and Marsal Deck Stones

No MB, SD or slice door has a gasket in Marsal’s parts lists. SD doors are spring balanced; MB doors use 2-, 3- or 4-bar counterweights. Door adjustment counts as installation, so it is never warranty work. Once the warranty terms end, that work is ours.

Gas deck stones go in rough side up, pushed together with no gap. Marsal’s warranty never covers bricks, so a cracked gas-deck stone is paid work. Past both terms, we replace it. We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts.

The manual’s weekly brush-out behind the burner door and six-month air-port cleaning are owner routine. Past both warranty terms, our preventive maintenance visits take them off your hands.

When to Call Wilson & Myers for Marsal Deck Oven Repair

Check four things before you book. Give the pilot its full hold and wait, and make sure the red main valve is open. With the oven off and cool, brush flour dust from the air shutter, and stop any fan aimed at the oven front.

After that, the call is ours once both warranty terms are up, or on an oven bought used. That covers a pilot that still drops, a deck that runs hot or falls behind, and soot that comes back. I usually start where the service manual starts for that symptom. I adjust before I order Marsal pizza oven parts.

Book the repair online with the series and model from the rating plate in hand.

We also service other commercial cooking brands and the rest of the kitchen through our commercial appliance services.

Marsal Oven Warranty: 18 Months on Parts, 1 Year on Labor

Both terms start on the dealer’s invoice date, or 90 days after Marsal ships the oven, whichever comes first. Coverage is for the original purchaser and installation only. An oven bought used has none, so its repair is ours at any age.

Inside the terms, the original purchaser goes to Marsal’s warranty service first. The warranty excludes an oven serviced by an agency outside Marsal’s network.

  • Defect within 18 months

Marsal’s warranty service, once the factory or a Marsal representative clears the call. Labor is covered for the first year.

  • Never covered, at any age

Calibration, bypass, air and gas adjustments, venting faults, bricks, lights, fuses and a broken thermostat capillary.

  • Past 18 months, or bought used

Ours to diagnose and repair, with a 100-day labor warranty on our work.

Marsal Pizza Oven Repair FAQ

  • Do Marsal ovens have error codes?

No. Gas decks have no display to show one. The CT shows time and temperature, and the only display words its manual names are LOAD and DONE. Our technician reads the flame, the pilot and the bake instead.

  • Can I clean a hot Marsal deck with water?

On a gas deck, yes: the gas manual’s daily routine includes a wet towel over the brush on the hot brick. On a Marsal CT oven, no. Clean it at room temperature, since a soaked stone heated quickly can crack. Dry a wet stone overnight with the door open, or at 150°F for 2 hours.

Past both warranty terms, a stone that has already cracked is ours to replace.

  • Does a Marsal oven need a draft diverter?

Only on a direct vent. Marsal says calls caused by a missing diverter are not warranty work. Under a canopy hood, the stainless flue shipped with the oven goes on instead. Direct venting is not permitted on a WF or an SD triple.

The manual ties a missing diverter to pilot outages and poor baking. Once the warranty terms are up, we trace both.

  • How do I read a Marsal model number?

Marsal prints no decoding key. Start with the series letters, since 236 is both an MB and an SD slice oven. A Marsal SD-1060 pizza oven has the 10 in door; the SD 660, on the same deck, has the 7 in door. Stack names follow no fixed order, so tell us which oven is on top.

  • Is a Marsal and Sons pizza oven the same brand?

Yes. Marsal & Sons is the name on the brand’s older papers; current manuals print Marsal. Marsal and Sons pizza oven repair follows the same documents. Past the warranty terms, it is ours, parts permitting.

  • Who repairs Marsal ovens in Denver after the warranty?

We do, across Denver Metro. Inside the warranty terms, the original purchaser goes to Marsal’s warranty service first. Past them, or on an oven bought used, our insured technicians repair every current Marsal series. Our work carries a 100-day labor warranty.
