A Miele dishwasher that holds water in the tub, stops mid-program, or puts a fault on the panel is a repair job. Wilson & Myers services the G 5000 series and the G 7000 series in Denver Metro homes. We diagnose first and quote second, and you decide before any part is ordered.
Miele lists twenty-two dishwashers on its US site today and not one is freestanding. Every current machine is built in, so Miele fully integrated dishwasher repair starts at the cabinet, not at the control panel. Miele publishes no general model decoder. The integration suffix on the badge is the one code it prints.
| Suffix | What it means | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| SCU | Built under, pre-finished | The machine carries its own fascia, so there is no custom panel to protect |
| SCi | Semi integrated, controls above the door | A fascia strip comes off before the door does |
| SCVi | Fully integrated, panel ready | A custom panel is fitted, and Miele prints a minimum and maximum panel weight |
Nineteen of the twenty-two are fully integrated SCVi, one is semi-integrated SCi, and two are built-under SCU. See also our Miele appliance repair hub, the Miele kitchen appliance repair page, and our dishwasher repair service.
The most useful question we ask on the phone is what the display shows, word for word. Miele changes the code and the wording with the display the machine was built around.
A number means a 7-segment display, which is the G 5000 series. A single word means a 1-line plain text display. A full sentence means an M Touch display.
| What you see | What Miele says | Which display |
|---|---|---|
| F11 | Water drainage fault, water left in the wash cabinet | 7-segment |
| F12 or F13 | Water intake fault | 7-segment |
| F18 | Technical fault in the water intake circuit | 7-segment |
| F70 | Waterproof has reacted, the drain pump may still run | 7-segment |
| F78 | Circulation pump fault | 7-segment |
| FXX | Miele’s placeholder for a fault the owner cannot remedy | 7-segment |
| Drain, Waterproof, Door fault, Intake | The same faults in one word | 1-line plain text |
| Water was not pumped away | The same fault written out | M Touch |
The G 7000 series publishes no numbered codes at all, and that is a finding rather than a gap. So a Miele dishwasher F11 error, a Miele dishwasher F70 waterproof message, or a Miele dishwasher F78 means a G 5000 machine.
Below is what we find behind each complaint, and every mechanism is printed in a Miele manual or spec sheet. Where Miele declines to rank causes, we say so.
Owners type Miele dishwasher not draining, Miele dishwasher drain error, or Miele dishwasher won’t drain. Miele’s own remedy order is the filter combination first, then the drain pump, then the drain hose. The circuit carries a non-return valve, and Miele caps drainage length at 13 ft and delivery head at 3 ft.
A bad install can therefore surface years later. Miele warns that glass splinters in the pump are hard to see, and we have seen exactly that.
Waterproof system is a named field in the Safety block of every current Miele spec sheet. Miele’s instruction is identical in every manual we read: switch off, close the faucet, contact service. On a G 5000 the drain pump may keep running with the door open.
Miele dishwasher not filling with water is usually plumbing before it is electronics. Miele’s causes are a faucet not fully open, a clogged water inlet filter, or supply pressure under 7.25 psi. On the G 5000 line that reads as F12 or F13, with a separate F18 for a fault in the same circuit. Miele permits a hot water connection, and on the EnergySaver program a supply under 115 degrees flags your plumbing.
Miele dishwasher white film on dishes has four documented causes, and Miele ranks none of them.
Miele ships the softener set to 1 gpg and rates it to 73 gpg. Denver Water calls its own supply soft to moderately hard, so the setting is worth checking. Miele also tells owners to refill reactivation salt and the rinse aid reservoir when they drop a combination agent.
AutoDos is on nine of the twenty-two current models and on no G 5000 machine. Miele documents five separate states, so a Miele AutoDos PowerDisk problem is five faults sharing one name.
The maintenance fix includes cleaning the lower spray arm, because the AutoDos outlet discharges through it. Miele’s workaround for a holder fault is to dose into the detergent compartment by hand.
Miele dishwasher door won’t open is three complaints wearing one search phrase. AutoOpen drying deliberately cracks the door at the end of some programs, so a self-opening door is often a working machine. It is printed on sixteen of the twenty-three sheets we read, across both series.
Knock2open, badged K2O, is a motorized opener triggered by two knocks on the top third of the door front. It can be switched off in settings, which is the first check. The genuine fault is a door that will not open automatically, and Miele’s first step is a power cycle. Miele names the parts too: door locking pins, a door locking rail, and a door-opening aid for a power failure.
Miele dishwasher not cleaning dishes usually comes back to the spray arms and filters. Miele’s own procedure is the spray arm rotation check, prompted on screen as Check spray arms. Check filter saturation indicator is a printed Safety field on the G 7000 sheets and not on the G 5000.
Miele’s first three causes are a door not latched, a plug not in, and a tripped breaker. Read the fuse rating off the data plate, and treat a second trip as ours. Every current domestic sheet we read prints 120 V and 15 A, and there is no 240 V variant. If the wash cabinet is dark, BrilliantLight may just be switched off in settings.
Miele prints a Marketing class on every current spec sheet, and the ladder runs Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver. It tells you how the machine was sold, not which display it uses, so we never map a fault to the tier.
Twelve of the twenty-two current models sit in the G 7000 series and ten in the G 5000 series. Baskets run Comfort baskets, ExtraComfort baskets and MaxiComfort baskets, with a 3D MultiFlex cutlery tray on some. Drying is AutoOpen drying, SensorDry and active condensation drying, and every sheet we read prints the fresh water dishwasher field. Program names such as QuickIntenseWash and EnergySaver come off Miele’s sheets.
Miele’s library lists ninety-one retired dishwasher entries, and we still meet G 4000 and G 6000 machines in Denver Metro kitchens. We could not confirm those older machines share the same codes, so we read the machine. Your data plate sits on the right side of the door in both generations.
Four checks take minutes, need no tools, and sometimes end the call. All four are steps Miele itself puts first.
Call us when the fault returns after clean filters, when Waterproof has reacted, or when a breaker trips twice. Call us when the door will not release, when an AutoDos holder faults, or when a built-in machine has to come out. That last one is where an inexperienced hand does the damage, because Miele fits these to the millimetre.
Book a Miele dishwasher visit and tell us which of those four checks you already tried.

These come up most on a Miele dishwasher call, and each answer comes from a Miele document.
On the data plate, on the right side of the door, in both generations. An on-screen Information menu carries it too, alongside fault memory.
F11 is Miele’s water drainage fault, shown in the time display on a G 5000 machine. Miele’s remedy order is the filter combination, then the drain pump, then the drain hose.
That is almost always AutoOpen drying working as designed. A door that releases mid-program is a different matter and worth a call.
It depends on the series. G 7000 manuals and sheets both name a salt reservoir, and no G 5000 sheet we read carries a salt field. All three G 5000 manuals still tell the owner to refill reactivation salt.
Miele lists four causes and ranks none of them. An empty salt reservoir, a loose cap, a water hardness setting that is too low, or an unsuitable detergent. Resetting that setting is part of the visit.
Miele’s own leak protection has reacted to water where it should not be. Its instruction in every manual we read: switch off, close the faucet, contact service.
Yes, before you book anyone, us included. Miele’s US warranty excludes damage from work by providers it has not appointed, and from not using genuine Miele spare parts.
Because numbered codes are a G 5000 thing, printed on a 7-segment display. A 1-line plain text display gives you one word, and an M Touch display writes the sentence out.
Send us the fault display from the panel and the model number from the door edge. We will book an insured technician who works these machines.
