Arctic Air Families: Reach-Ins, Prep Tables and Bar Coolers

Every current Arctic Air unit is self-contained, plugs into 115 V and runs R290 on a capillary tube. Arctic Air lists no walk-in or ice machine today. Arctic Air freezer repair runs through our commercial freezer repair work, since the freezers share manuals and controls.

On an Arctic Air AR23 reach-in refrigerator, the serial sticker sits on the left inner wall near the top. An Arctic Air AUC27R uses the same spot. Chef bases carry it outside on the left side and on the back.

A plate may add a letter suffix, such as AR23EZ. Arctic Air refrigeration sits beside the other commercial refrigeration brands we service.

Arctic Air Alarm Codes: P1, P2, P3, HA and the Rest

These codes are printed in the AR, AF, AGR, AGDF, APP, AST, AMT and AUC manuals. Keg coolers print a shorter list without P3 or CSd. Other families print no code meanings.

Press Up or Down to see the last alarm. To clear it, hold SET until rst appears, then press SET again. Up and Down held together for 3 seconds lock (POF) or unlock (Pon) the keys.

A probe code that comes back after a reset, or a CA or CSd, means a call to us.

Normal Behavior That Looks Like a Fault

All four of these are normal. A defrost that never ends, or a coil frozen between cycles, comes to us.

  • Six-hour defrost

Most units stop every 6 hours and show the defrost symbol. Defrost ends when the coil reaches 45°F on freezers such as the Arctic Air AF23, 41°F on refrigerators, or after 20 minutes.

  • Flashing compressor light

The anti-short-cycle delay, not a fault.

  • Flashing fan light

The fan delay after a defrost.

  • ACP countertop rails

No defrost system. Shut the rail off to defrost it.

Warm Cabinet, Iced Coil or Water on the Floor

Cold air leaves at the top rear and must reach the bottom. Bags pushed against the back block it. That can freeze the coil, warm the cabinet or overflow the drain pan. An Arctic Air prep table must run with its pans and covers in place, and the pans are emptied overnight.

An Arctic Air refrigerator not cooling after these checks needs a technician’s diagnosis. That part is ours. Our preventive maintenance visits keep the coil cleaning on schedule.

Switch the unit off and unplug it before any step below.

  • Condenser coil: Clean it at least every 90 days, every 60 on keg coolers and every 30 in a greasy kitchen. Brush, vacuum or degrease it; never pressure-wash. A clogged coil means high temperatures and long run times, then compressor failure.
  • Door gaskets: Dart-style gaskets pull out and press back in by hand. Wash them with warm soapy water.
  • Hinges: Tighten the bracket screws when a door sags. If it still sags, call us.
  • Drain: Water inside means the tube left the evaporator housing. Water under the unit means it slipped out of the pan.

Install Rules That Void Arctic Air Coverage

These install facts from the manuals can cost coverage before any part fails. If an install broke one, the Warranty Center may refuse the claim. The repair is then ours.

  • 24 hours upright: A unit laid down must stand 24 hours before start-up, or the compressor and the warranty are at risk.
  • No extension cords: They are prohibited on keg coolers, chef bases, back bars and the Arctic Air AWR25 and AWF25.
  • Dedicated 20 A circuit: Back bars, chef bases and the economy pair need one. On the AWR25 and AWF25, a shared circuit may not be covered.
  • Chef base heat: Keep 4 inches between the cooking equipment’s heating element and the chef base top.
  • Clearances: They differ by family, from 2 inches on an Arctic Air AR49 to 4 inches on back bars. Most Arctic Air manuals print the figure for their family.

R290 Refrigerant and Sealed-System Work

Every current unit runs R290. It is propane, and it is flammable. For the refrigerant circuit, the manuals print precautions including no flame leak detector, like-for-like components, and refrigerant recovered before brazing. Never chip ice off the coil with a tool.

Our EPA-608 certified technicians follow those precautions on every sealed-system job. That covers leak diagnosis and compressor work. Controllers, probes, fans and defrost faults are ours too, as across our commercial appliance repair.

Arctic Air Warranty: What Changed and Who Pays

Units bought on or after July 15, 2026 carry three years of parts and labor, capped at 30 months from shipment. Three more years then cover the compressor part only. Gaskets and bulbs get 90 days, hinges one year.

ACP rails get one year of parts and labor and no compressor extension. The AWR25 and AWF25 get one year of parts and labor. Food trucks and outdoor installs get one year in all. Residential use is not covered.

Most units bought before July 15, 2026 were sold under two years of parts and labor and five on the compressor. ACP rails and the economy pair had one year of parts and labor. Proof of purchase settles which term applies. Every warranty call must be pre-approved by the Arctic Air Warranty Center, which arranges the service provider.

The warranty never pays for spoiled product, coil neglect, extension cords or gaskets after 90 days. The repairs behind those failures are ours. So is every unit past its term.

We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts. Arctic Air parts are ordered once the diagnosis names the component. Arctic Air freezer parts, such as the AWF25’s defrost heater, follow the same rule.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

With the unit unplugged, clean the coil, reseat the drain tube and tighten the hinges. Then check airflow with it running. If the display shows CA or CSd, a probe code returns, or the coil ices between defrosts, the job is ours. In my experience, an owner who has done those checks hands us a clearer starting point.

Arctic Air Refrigeration Repair FAQ

  • Why is my Arctic Air commercial refrigerator not cooling?

Start with the condenser coil and airflow. Packed shelves can freeze the evaporator coil. An Arctic Air undercounter refrigerator gets the same checks. A coil that stays iced between defrosts needs a technician.

  • What does HA mean on an Arctic Air display?

HA is the maximum temperature alarm. That meaning is printed in the reach-in, glass reach-in, prep table, undercounter and keg cooler manuals. Its outputs stay unchanged. Check airflow and the condenser coil, then call us if it returns.

  • Why does my Arctic Air shut off every few hours?

On most Arctic Air units, that is the 6-hour automatic defrost. The display shows the defrost symbol while it runs. ACP countertop rails have no defrost system, so it does not apply to them.

  • How often should I clean an Arctic Air condenser coil?

At least every 90 days, every 60 on keg coolers and every 30 in a dusty or greasy kitchen. Unplug the unit first. Neglect voids the compressor coverage.

  • Does the Arctic Air warranty cover spoiled food?

No. The warranty document excludes food or product spoilage and other consequential loss. In-term repairs also need pre-approval from the Arctic Air Warranty Center before work starts.
