One fact settles most of the advice you have already been given. No Bosch dryer sold in the United States has a vent. Wilson & Myers takes Bosch dryer repair calls right across the Denver Metro Area, and every technician we send is insured.
Bosch sells three dryers in the United States. The 500 and 800 Series are heat pump machines, and the 300 Series is a condensation dryer. All three are ventless.
The federal EnergyGuide labels classify all three as Ventless (Condensing) Compact. One current label also covers three older Bosch models, so ventless is not a recent change on this brand.
There is no duct behind the machine, no hood outside the wall, and no blower pushing air outdoors. The heat and the water stay inside the cabinet.

Know this before you follow any instruction you find, including Bosch’s own. Its US support page for dryer error E12 is built around cleaning a vent.
The page starts correctly. E12 means overheating from restricted airflow, and the first step Bosch gives is the lint screen. Then it tells the owner to find the external dryer vent outside the home and brush lint from the ductwork.
There is nothing outside to find. That is not a point against Bosch. If its own web team can drift onto the generic dryer path, a neighbour or a search result will too.
The airflow E12 means is inside the cabinet and the room. Start at the lint screen. Bosch separately names a soiled heat exchanger and a blocked ventilation opening as causes of poor drying.
This is the call we take most often on the brand, and on a ventless machine the causes are different. Every item below is something Bosch publishes.
The temperature one has a Denver edge. An unheated garage or an unconditioned basement in January sits below Bosch’s 59 degree floor. Bosch’s published consequence is a longer cycle, not a fault, so a dryer that slowed in winter may be working as designed.
Where the machine sits matters as much as what is inside it. Bosch tells 300 Series owners to leave the closet door open while the dryer runs. Closed louvered doors, it says, give only minimal results and long cycles. Bosch also rules out any room at risk of freezing.
On the 300 Series the condenser is a part you pull out and rinse. Bosch recommends that monthly, warm water only, and no hard or sharp objects on it. A Bosch dryer 300 Series not drying often ends right there.
Bosch dryer not heating and Bosch dryer not starting are different questions on this line. Neither has a gas burner or an exhaust path to blame. Not heating points at the heating circuit, or at the sealed circuit on a heat pump model. Not starting most often points at a door that has not latched.
This is the cheapest call in Bosch laundry and it is not a broken dryer. On a 500 or 800 Series a full condensation container terminates the program. The clothes come out damp, the machine looks dead mid cycle, and nothing has failed.
Bosch’s default surprises owners too. On both heat pump models the condensation drains through the water outlet hose, and the container is only the fallback where no drain exists.
The 300 Series has no condensation container at all. It drains by hose only, and Bosch says never to disconnect that hose from the sump. If your Bosch dryer has no water tank, that tells us which machine you own.
A DR indicator on that model means the water has not drained. Owners search it as the Bosch dryer DR code or the Bosch dryer DR error. The answer is the hose, not a tank you cannot find.

A Bosch heat pump dryer is a refrigeration machine in a laundry cabinet. The refrigerant is R290, which is propane, and Bosch prints a boxed warning. Keep ignition sources away, and do not damage the pipes in the refrigerant circuit.
The usual mental picture of a dryer is a heater, a belt and a blower. On the 500 and 800 Series the heat comes off a compressor instead. Our technicians hold EPA-608 certification for the sealed refrigerant circuit on Bosch heat pump dryers.
Bosch names two parts of that circuit in its own troubleshooting table, the compressor and the condensation pump. It lists them as normal noises rather than faults.
The self-clean is rinsed by water the machine pulls out of the clothes, so Bosch asks for damp loads over 6.6 pounds. Run nothing but half-empty cycles and the heat exchanger fouls anyway.
Bosch publishes this mechanism itself. Residue from limescale, detergents and care products builds up on the moisture sensor, and Bosch lists a dirty sensor as a cause of damp laundry.
Denver Water rates its own supply below the hard-water threshold, and says hardness stopped mattering for laundry once detergents carried softeners. It does report that the water forms scale over two to five years.
That slow scale is what reaches the sensor, and the fix is a cloth. On the 300 Series Bosch is specific. Wipe the two bars beside the lint filter monthly, with white vinegar and nothing else.
A Bosch heat pump dryer is not a 120 volt appliance, whatever you have read about heat pump laundry. Every Bosch dryer sold here runs on 208 to 240 volts, through a NEMA 6-15P cord rated 15 amps. Bosch forbids the common 14-30P and 10-30P dryer cords outright.
What lets a whole pair share one existing dryer outlet is the draw. Bosch rates the heat pump dryer at 1,000 watts against 2,300 for the washer. Bosch’s own adapter feeds both from a four-prong 30 amp receptacle.
A conventional resistance dryer draws several times as much, which is why it gets the circuit to itself. An older three-prong receptacle may need electrical work first. The outlet and drain detail sits on our dryer hook-up page.
Bosch’s US dryer error-code page carries exactly three entries. Its washer page carries about two dozen. Search Bosch dryer error codes and you get long lists that are not Bosch’s.

Look at what the table does not have. No Bosch code for a drum that will not turn, none for a belt, none for a bearing.
Bosch does not name drum bearings, drive belts, blowers or door switches anywhere in the US dryer material we work from. We have seen each of the four on Denver Metro calls, and none of them announces itself with a code. We repair all four, and we claim that as field experience rather than something Bosch published.

Four things to rule out before you book. A Bosch dryer stops for cheap reasons far more often than expensive ones.
Then it becomes ours. When a Bosch dryer keeps stopping and the container is already empty, that is a service call. So is error E06, or anything in the electronics group. A dryer not starting after a power cycle is ours, and so is the refrigerant circuit.

On the 300 Series the DR indicator means the water has not drained, and it points at the condensation drain hose. That model has no container to empty, so check for a kink, a blockage, or a hose above 39 inches.
On a 500 or 800 Series the first suspect is the condensation container, which Bosch documents as terminating the program. A soiled filter or a kinked outlet hose sits under the same symbol.
