Bosch publishes roughly two dozen washer codes against three for its dryers, so the washer is the machine it documents. Several exist on one series only, and Bosch sends others straight to a technician. Wilson & Myers handles Bosch washer repair and Bosch washing machine repair across the Denver Metro Area, and our technicians are insured.
The code usually names the failed part before anyone opens the cabinet. Bosch splits its material across an error-code page and a set of separate self-help pages.
| Display | What Bosch states | Which series |
|---|---|---|
| E18 or F18 | The drainage hose is blocked or kinked. Bosch warns the escaping water may be very hot | All three |
| E23 or F23 | The AquaStop hose has activated. Bosch says shut the tap and stop using the machine | 500 and 800 only |
| E:10 with -00, -10 or -20 | The pump for the intelligent dosing system is blocked | 800 only, at the i-DOS drawer |
| E:38 with -25 or -26 | Bosch lists two causes, a blocked drain pump and a blocked inlet opening in the rubber gasket | All three |
| E32, F32 or H:32 | The laundry is unevenly distributed, so the spin is cut or refused | All three |
| E26, F26 or F27 | An issue with the analogue pressure sensor that reports the water level | All three |
| E80 | A fault in the drive circuit. Bosch publishes no homeowner step for it | All three |
Every row comes from Bosch’s own US washer pages. Bosch runs separate pages for the turbidity and flow sensors that never reach the main list.
This is the most searched Bosch washer symptom, and the list behind it is short. Bosch names the drain pump alone in five separate codes, and most causes are free to rule out. Start with E18 and F18, a blocked or kinked drainage hose.
Water sitting in a stalled machine holds its temperature, so put a towel down and open the cover slowly.
When the hose is clear, the height is right and the code returns, the pump is the answer. Bosch asks for it cleaned at least once a year, and names rattling noises as a reason to do it sooner.
A Bosch washer not draining and a Bosch washing machine not draining are the same call to us.
Half of these calls are not a fault. Bosch publishes three unbalance codes, and its stated behaviour is to cut the spin speed or skip the spin to protect the machine.
E32 and F32 report a detected imbalance. E:60 -2B and H:32 say the laundry is unevenly distributed. Bosch’s remedy in all three is to redistribute the load.
These drums hold 2.2 to 2.4 cubic feet, which is small. We have seen one heavy bath sheet unbalance a load on its own.
What is left is real work. E80 is a fault in the drive circuit, and Bosch offers the owner no step for it.
Beyond the codes sit the parts Bosch never writes about. Worn shock absorbers, tired suspension springs and a failing drum bearing all end in a machine that will not hold a spin. Bosch names none of the three, so we give them as our own field experience.
Bosch does name three causes of a Bosch washing machine vibrating loudly, and every one of them is an install fault.
The standard internet fix for a smelly front-loader gasket is chlorine bleach. Bosch says the opposite: cleaners containing chlorine may degrade the rubber seal over time. Follow the internet for a year and you buy a door boot.
Bosch publishes its own causes of the smell, and not one of them is a failed part.
The published remedy is a damp cloth on the seal, then the drum cleaning program with an oxygen bleach powder. Bosch also wants the door and the drawer left open to dry, and the drum cleaned at least yearly.
There is a mechanical reason to keep the seal clear too. Bosch lists a blocked inlet opening in the rubber gasket as a cause of drain error E:38. The smell and the code are one problem at two stages.
Denver is not the hard-water city most homeowners here assume. Denver Water classifies the supply as soft to moderately hard, and says modern detergents have taken hardness off the laundry list.
The local mechanism runs the other way. Softer water needs less detergent, not more. Dosing as though Denver were hard-water country will over-foam a compact drum.
Over-dosing is by a wide margin the most frequent complaint Bosch publishes about its washers.
Bosch states the detergent dosage is too high. Its remedy is a tablespoon of fabric softener in two cups of water
Detergent foam has been detected. Bosch’s causes are too much detergent, or detergent that has aged
Bosch lists excess detergent first here, ahead of a defective solenoid valve
Excess detergent sits in Bosch’s drain-path cause list beside the blocked hose
Where scale does build up inside a Bosch washer, Bosch’s own answer is a descaling routine, not a part.
Bosch’s US category is titled Compact Washing Machines and holds exactly three products. There is no Bosch top-loader and no 27-inch Bosch washer in the current line. Which series you own changes the fault list, so the model number matters when you book.
1,400 rpm, a reinforced inlet hose, no interior light and no Wi-Fi. It cannot throw the AquaStop or i-DOS codes
1,600 rpm and AquaStop Plus leak protection, plus Home Connect, which adds a network fault surface the 300 lacks
1,600 rpm and AquaStop Plus, plus i-DOS dosing with its own pump unit in the drawer and its own codes
The door hinge is on the left on all three, and Bosch does not make it reversible. That decides how the machine sits in a closet.
Stacking, the connection kit, transit bolts and the outlet live on our Bosch laundry appliances page. The install itself is on our washer hook-up page.
Bosch names most of these itself, in a code or a maintenance instruction. A few it never names, and we say which is which.
A Bosch washer not starting usually lands on the door lock. Bosch gives E16 and F16 as a door not locked properly, and asks first for laundry jammed in the seal.
Start with these four checks. All four are free, and between them they close out a lot of Bosch washer calls.
Then it becomes ours. E80 on the drive circuit, a tripped AquaStop, water in the base, or a pressure sensor fault are all points where Bosch itself stops. Book us too when the drum will not hold a spin after two redistributions.
The dryer half of the pair is a different machine with a different fault list, and it sits on our Bosch dryer repair page.
Book online and tell us the series, plus the code exactly as the display shows it.
Bosch gives E18 and F18 as a blocked or kinked drainage hose. Clean the hose, the siphon spigot and the pump, and expect hot water.
Bosch puts the drain hose, its height, the pump, the pump cover and excess detergent on that list. A blocked inlet opening in the door gasket is on it too.
For a display and buttons that will not respond, Bosch’s sequence is a five second press, then power off for 30 seconds. If the code returns, book the visit.
When a Bosch washing machine door won’t open, Bosch documents two states that hold it shut. The temperature inside is too high, or the water level is too high. Run a rinse or a spin.
In the compartments marked in your own manual. On a compact drum the amount matters more than the compartment, and Bosch’s foam remedy goes into compartment II.
Not in the current US line. All three Bosch washers sold here are 24-inch compact front-loaders, so a Bosch washer repair visit is always a front-loader visit.
Nobody can answer that honestly, and we will not pretend to. Bosch publishes no service life for a washer, so every figure circulating online is unsourced.
