Insured LG Repair in Denver Metro: Dryers

Your LG Dryer Measures the Duct and Reports the Restriction as a Percentage

Most dryers say nothing about the vent behind them, and an LG reports the restriction as a percentage. LG’s own support page then tells the owner to contact a local vent cleaning company. That one instruction decides where a large share of LG dryer repair work in Denver Metro homes belongs.

You Cleared the Vent and the Warning Stayed On. LG Says Five Cycles.

LG says the duct warning stays lit for two hours after the cycle ends. Opening the door or pressing Power turns the display off.

After the restriction is cleared, LG says the system needs multiple consecutive cycles to see the performance value improve. Performance value is LG’s own term. Only if the indicator is still active after five cycles does LG tell the owner to call for service.

So one clean cycle proves nothing on an LG. Run five. If it clears on cycle three, the duct was the whole fault.

LG also tells owners not to run the machine while the exhaust is severely restricted, calling it a fire risk. If the codes are what brought you here, our LG dryer d80 code guide takes them one at a time.

The Installation Test LG Built Into the Dryer, and the Buttons That Start It

LG publishes a self test that runs the heater and shows temperatures on the display. It needs no tools, only the right button pair, which differs by model.

The manual for the DLGX5801V says Power, then immediately press and hold Wrinkle Care and Remote Start. The manual covering the DLEX6700W says Power, then Low Static and Options. LG lists five pairs across its dryer families, so use the one in your own manual.

Both buttons must go down before the startup chime ends, and LG says it may take several attempts. The numbers that follow are the temperatures inside the dryer.

LG then routes the owner by how far the number climbed.

  1. Stayed the same or moved up and down. LG says the heating system needs a repair.
  2. Increased by between 2 and 9. LG says airflow is restricted between the dryer and the outside exhaust exit.
  3. Increased more than 10. LG calls this a simple fix at home with no technician required.

LG says the dryer detects a restriction in airflow and cannot keep the heater on for the whole cycle, for safety reasons. That is why a restricted LG runs cool rather than failing outright.

Smart Diagnosis is LG’s second routine, entered on the DLGX5801V through Power, Settings and Additional Settings. On the DLEX6700W it is Power, Options, then the knob to Additional Settings.

What LG Marks as Gas Only, and What LG Leaves Unmarked

The fork on an LG dryer is fuel, and LG marks part of it itself. On a gas machine LG says the 80 percent duct code may instead point at a lack of gas supplied to the unit.

LG writes that even if gas is not supplied, the appliance will run and no error codes will display. LG then asks the owner to check whether other gas appliances in the home work normally. That is the LG gas dryer repair most often misdiagnosed as a heating element.

LG is careful what it calls the next one. LG says 9A5 is not an error code but a display message spelling GAS.

Messages LG restricts to a gas LG dryer
Code or messageWhat LG says
9A5Not an error code. LG says it spells GAS and the dryer is not getting proper gas supply.
d80Duct blockage at 80 percent. On gas dryers LG says it may instead mean a lack of gas supplied.
Gas supplyGas supply or service turned off. LG marks this row gas model only.

The second set is the one nobody should fold into the first. LG names no fuel type for these, so we do not either.

Codes LG lists without naming a fuel type
CodeWhat LG says it means
nPNo current detected at the heater. LG points at the home wiring and a rating plate of 240 volts.
PSImproper voltage in the power cord. LG links it to the white and red wires reversed on the terminal block.
dE, F0Door, and a flashing INSERT FILTER.
HSHumidity sensor. LG says it makes the dryer run for two and a half hours.
PFShown after a power outage.
tE1, tE2, tE3LG lists all three. LG says tE2 appears normally in cold conditions and on steam cycles.

LG says E13 only appears on hybrid condensing dryers, and neither model here is one. On the electric side LG calls for a separate 240 volt circuit fused at 30 amperes on both sides of the line. An LG electric dryer repair that starts with a tripping breaker starts there.

0.6 Inch of Static Pressure, Measured Two Feet From the Machine

LG says static pressure in the exhaust duct can be read with a manometer placed about 2 ft from the dryer. LG says it should not exceed 0.6 inch, taken with the dryer running with no load.

LG allows only 4 inch rigid, semi rigid or flexible metal ductwork, and caps the total length of flexible metal duct at 8 ft. LG says not to use sheet metal screws that reach into the duct and catch lint. Both manuals also say not to install a booster fan in the exhaust duct.

How far the duct may run depends on the hood on the outside wall.

LG duct limits by wall cap and elbow count
90 degree elbowsRecommended 4 inch capShort run 2.5 inch cap
065 ft55 ft
155 ft47 ft
247 ft41 ft
336 ft30 ft
428 ft22 ft

Read the two columns against each other and the wall cap costs 10 ft with no elbows and 6 ft with four. We have seen that hood decide whether a duct run sits inside LG’s table or outside it. LG caps the run at four 90 degree elbows.

The photographs show a flexible transition duct, an exterior wall cap and vent cleaning work. None is an LG machine, and the checks look the same behind any brand.

LG says to check the ductwork for lint monthly and clean it at least yearly, by a professional vent cleaner. That is dryer vent cleaning work rather than a repair.

Position Three of the Badge Is the Fuel, and the Fuel Decides How It Vents

LG titles its own manuals with wildcards, and real badges decode them. On these families the third character is the fuel, E for electric and G for gas. The eighth character pairs the twins, 0 on the electric and 1 on its gas partner.

So the DLGX5801V is the gas twin of the DLEX5800V, and the DLEX6700W is the electric machine in white. The pattern is not universal in LG’s own list, which also pairs DLE7300 with DLG7300.

Fuel then decides the venting. LG offers four way venting on the electric machine and three way on the gas one. Both manuals give the reason in one line: right side venting is not available on gas models. That is why a gas swap into a tight Denver Metro laundry closet sometimes cannot be ducted the way the electric one was.

LG’s documents give more than one side vent kit number, 383EEL9001B in one and 3911EZ9131X in another. LG allows 0.5 inch IPS rigid pipe and 3/8 inch tubing under 20 ft, and wants the shutoff valve within 6 ft. LG ships the dryer set for natural gas and names the LP nozzle kit as part 383EEL3002D.

LG gives natural gas as 4 to 10.5 inch water column and LP as 8 to 13 inch. LG rates the dryer’s BTU output for elevations below 10,000 feet and says an install above that must be derated. Every address we serve sits well below that, which is our observation and not LG’s.

LG also says an unpurged gas line can switch the igniter off before the burner lights, with a retry after about two minutes. New installs belong with dryer hook up work rather than repair.

What LG’s Warranty Stops Covering the Moment the Vent Is Restricted

LG’s US dryer warranty runs one year on parts and labor. The drum carries three years on parts only, and LG says the customer pays the labor to fit them.

LG excludes damage or failure caused by an inadequate supply of air. LG also excludes conversion of the product from natural gas or LP gas, and service trips to correct wiring.

LG writes that incorrect or inadequate exhaust systems are not covered by the dryer warranty. Read that beside LG’s own instruction to call a vent cleaning company and the routing is LG’s, not ours. Coverage questions go to LG before a paid visit is booked.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Four checks are yours before anyone books. Pull the lint filter and clear it, then run the dryer and see whether the flap on the outside wall opens. Count the elbows in the duct run against LG’s table above. On a gas machine, check that other gas appliances in the house still work.

The fifth is LG’s own reset rule. After the duct is clear, give it five cycles before treating the warning as a fault.

Past that the work is ours. Heaters, gas valves, igniters, thermistors, moisture sensors, blower assemblies and control boards are ours on both fuels. Terminal block and power cord faults on an electric machine are ours as well. Every LG dryer repair technician we send is insured, and the labour carries a written warranty.

We source LG components through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts. Timing depends on whether the supplier has the part, so we confirm it before committing rather than after. What a repair costs depends on the fault, so we diagnose first and agree the price before work starts.

Most of these calls start with a search for LG dryer repair near me. Wilson & Myers is an LG dryer repair company working across the Denver Metro Area, on gas and electric machines alike. If the washer beside it needs the same visit, our LG washer repair page covers that machine.

Book an LG dryer repair visit and give us the model number from the sticker inside the door. Tell us the fuel and whatever the display showed. If you ran LG’s installation test, the number it climbed by is the most useful thing you can tell us.

LG Dryer Repair FAQ

I cleared the vent and my LG still shows a d80 or d90 code. Is the dryer broken?

Not necessarily. LG says the system needs several consecutive cycles to register that the performance value has improved. LG’s own threshold is five cycles, and only past that does LG call it a service job.

My LG gas dryer runs but does not heat, and there is no error code. What now?

LG’s own manual covers this. LG writes that even if gas is not supplied, the appliance will run and no error codes will display. Check whether other gas appliances in the home work normally.

Why does my LG stop the cycle before the clothes feel dry?

LG says the sensors read moisture by touching the clothing directly. Once anything in the drum reaches the cutoff and touches a sensor bar, the load stops. LG sets that default at 80 percent, which it labels Normal.

How much can go in on a steam cycle?

LG rates the same 7.4 cubic foot drum at 22.5 lb on the Normal cycle and 8 lb on a steam cycle. For SteamFresh, LG says small loads of 1 to 5 items work best.

Do you work on the LG WashCombo or an older TROMM dryer?

Yes on the TROMM badge, an older LG laundry line still in service. The WashCombo is a ventless all in one, so LG washer dryer combo repair is booked through our LG laundry appliance repair pages.

LG dryer running but not drying?

Tell us the code. LG reports duct restriction as a number before anything breaks.
