Insured LG Repair in Denver Metro: Washers

Two LG Washer Platforms, Two Different Fault Vocabularies

LG builds front load and top load washers that report the same fault in different words. The same code letter points at different parts on the two, so LG washer repair in Denver Metro starts with which machine you own. We work both platforms, plus the WashTower and the WashCombo.

Front Load, Impeller Top Load or 4-Way Agitator: Which LG You Own

LG splits its current US washer line three ways, and the split sits in LG’s own product names. A front loader tumbles the load. A top loader uses either a 4-Way Agitator in the centre or an impeller wash plate in the floor of the tub.

Two current models are the reference points. LG names the WM5500HWA a 4.5 cubic foot Smart Front Load washer with TurboWash 360 and AI DD. LG names the WT8400CW a 5.5 cubic foot Mega Capacity Smart Top Load Washer with Impeller and AI Sensing. LG marks impeller against agitator in the spec table on its own product pages.

That choice decides where a foreign object ends up. On a front loader a coin lands in the drain pump filter. On a top loader it wedges between the pulsator and the inner tub, which is a different job entirely.

The first two photographs are our own, and they show an impeller wash plate and a front load drum rather than LG machines specifically. The third is an LG washer with its leveling legs exposed.

The model badge trap. A WM prefix does not mean front load washer. LG’s washer-dryer-combos page carries the WM6998HBA, WM9998HBA, WM3555HVA, WM3499HVA and WM3488HW, and every one is an all-in-one. The LUWM101HWA is a combo whose badge starts with LU instead.

The trailing letters are the safest half of the badge to read, since W is white, B is black steel and V is graphite steel. The digits are not your capacity, because the WT8400CW holds 5.5 cubic feet and the WT8205CW holds 4.8. A TROMM badge means LG’s discontinued front load line, and plenty still run in Denver basements.

LG Front Load Washer Codes, in LG’s Own Words

LG front load washer repair starts from a single error code list, which LG also categorises as covering washer dryer combos. So a WashCombo owner reads the front load codes, not a separate set. LG prints a letter form and a numeric form of the same fault, which is why one machine says OE and another says E03.

LG front load washer error codes
CodeWhat LG says it means
OE / E03 / E21The washer is unable to drain the water used during the wash cycle.
IE / E02 / E10Water Inlet Error. The tub does not fill to an adequate level within a set period.
dE / dE1 / E01The door is not closed properly, often laundry caught in the rubber door gasket.
dE2 / E30The door is closed but not locked.
LEThe tub fails to spin. LG names an overloaded machine or a foreign object in the tub.
UEUnbalanced error. The laundry is piled up on one side of the drum.
CEOver-current in the motor circuit, from a short, a loose connection, a ground fault or a surge.
FE / E04 / E12Water overfilling. LG notes water may have entered through the detergent dispenser.
PE / E33The water level sensor is malfunctional.
tEA heating error, usually caused by a faulty thermistor.
AEA leak inside the appliance. LG says a safety mechanism prevents flooding the floor.
SudToo many suds. LG runs a suds reducing cycle that adds about 2 hours to the cycle time.
FF / u51Freeze Failure, when the temperature inside the washer drops below 1 degree Celsius.
Ed1 to Ed5ezDispense faults. A detergent or softener pump, an open circuit, or poor PCB communication.
dcLNot a fault. An ezDispense nozzle clean, which LG says takes about 16 minutes.
CLNot an error code. The child lock feature is active.
tCLNot a fault. LG is telling you to run the tub clean cycle.
PSA power supply issue. LG warns it can read as P5, because S and 5 look alike on a 7-segment display.

That last row is the manufacturer admitting its own display is ambiguous, and the same ambiguity turns an IE into a 1E. LG’s front load owner’s manual prints no letters at all. It prints messages, so the same faults read as Drainage, Water supply, Unbalance, Motor error and Oversudsing.

The two codes people search for most have their own write-ups. Our LG washer UE code guide and LG washer LE code guide walk those end to end. A leak with no code is covered in washer leaking from the bottom.

LG Top Load Codes Are a Different Set, and Some Models Blink Instead

An LG top loader does not use the list above. LG documents its own top load set in the owner’s manual and on its support pages. Several of those codes name parts a front loader does not have.

LG top load washer error codes
CodeWhat LG says it means
UEUnbalance error. The load is out of balance, too small, or heavy items mixed with light ones.
vbUnbalance detection, LG’s second load-distribution entry in the same manual table.
IEInlet error. Faucets not open, hoses kinked, filters clogged, or water pressure too low.
OEWater outlet error. A kinked, pinched or clogged drain hose, or one ending too high.
dELid error. The lid is not closed properly.
dLLid lock error. LG says you can hear the locking sound when the lid locks.
LE1Foreign object error. Coins, pins or clips caught between the pulsator and the inner tub.
LEMotor locked error. LG says to let the washer stand 30 minutes, then restart the cycle.
E6A clutch error, or a foreign object stuck between the pulsator and the tub.
EEA problem with the main control board’s EEPROM.
EbClutch error. LG’s own expansion is mechanical failure.
PEThe water pressure sensor is not working properly.
FEA fill error. The water level gets too high, which LG links to a faulty inlet valve.
PS / PsSupply voltage error. LG specifies 120Vac plus or minus 5 percent, with correct polarity.
tEA temperature sensor error.
drNot an error code. The drain function is operating.
tcLTub clean alarm. Time to run the tub clean cycle.

Put the two tables side by side and the reason for keeping them apart is obvious. On a front loader dE is the door and PE is the water level sensor. On a top loader dE is the lid, PE is the water pressure sensor, and FE is a fill error rather than overfilling.

Whole families exist on one side only. LE1, E6 and Eb point at the pulsator and the clutch, which no front loader has. Ed1 through Ed5 and dcL point at ezDispense pumps, which no top loader has. A single merged LG code list would send half the readers to the wrong part.

Some LG models show no alphanumeric code and blink the option lights instead. LG names those indicators as Door Lock, Control Lock, Hot, Rinse + Spin, Warm, Extra Rinse, Cold and Deep Fill. LG uses the blinking options to filter its code list, and does not publish the light pattern itself as a code. Tell us which lights blink and we start ahead.

One conflict is LG’s own, so we surface it rather than pick a side. The top load owner’s manual calls dE a lid error, while LG’s top load support page describes the same code as an unlocked drawer.

An LG WashTower Is Two Machines Under One Center Control Panel

LG’s own product names settle what a WashTower is, because each carries two capacities. LG names the WKE100HWA a 4.5 cubic foot washer and a 7.4 cubic foot electric dryer in a single unit. Two capacities means two drums, a separate washer and dryer, joined by one Center Control panel.

The washer inside is an LG front load washer and diagnoses as one, on the code list above. What makes LG WashTower repair different is the shared control board and the stacked access. A fault on that panel can belong to either half.

The range inside one family is wide. The WKGX301HBA pairs a 5.0 cubic foot washer with a gas dryer, and the WKHC252HBA pairs it with a ventless heat pump dryer. The compact WKHC152HWA drops to 2.4 cubic feet. LG STUDIO sells the same idea as the SWWE50N3 and SWWG50N3.

If the complaint sits on the drying half it belongs on our LG dryer repair page. The repair follows the failed machine, not the cabinet.

An LG WashCombo Is One Drum, a Heat Pump, and a Closet That Still Has to Breathe

The WashCombo is the machine the badge hides. LG names the WM6998HBA a Ventless Washer/Dryer Combo, WashCombo All-in-One, with Inverter HeatPump Technology and a Direct Drive Motor. One drum washes and then dries the same load, so LG washer dryer combo repair covers faults a separate washer never has.

There is no duct. Moisture is condensed out instead of blown outside, which brings a refrigerant heat pump circuit, condensate handling and lint with nowhere to go. Where a vented pair has one lint screen, this machine has two user-serviceable filters: the ezLintFilter and an LG Condenser Filter.

LG’s spec sheet fixes the rest. The unit runs on 120V and 12 amps through a 3-prong cord attached to the machine, so it needs no dryer outlet. Max spin is 1300 RPM, water pressure has to sit between 20 and 120 psi, and LG asks for 4 inches of clearance behind.

Here is the fact that catches people out. The machine has no vent and LG still specifies closet ventilation. LG calls for an upper opening of at least 48 square inches, no lower than 6 feet above the floor. The lower opening must be at least 24 square inches, within a foot of the floor.

LG advertises this machine as washing and drying as fast as two hours. An owner now waiting far longer, with no code on the panel, is often looking at a sealed laundry closet rather than a failed part. The WM9998HBA, the compact WM3555HVA and the older WM3499HVA behave the same way.

What LG’s Washer Warranty Still Pays For in Year Six

LG’s warranty documents are short, and they decide what LG washer warranty repair actually costs you. The front load document gives one year parts and labor. It gives ten years parts only on the Direct Drive Motor, and three years parts only on the NeveRust stainless steel drum. The top load document gives the same terms against the stainless steel tub.

The all-in-one does not change those numbers. LG’s own spec sheet for the WM6998HBA prints one year parts and labor, ten years on the motor and three on the drum. That is the block the separate washers carry.

The sentence LG prints against the ten-year and three-year lines is the one owners do not expect. LG writes that you are responsible for any applicable labor cost. A ten-year motor warranty is a parts warranty, and someone still has to come and fit the part.

Two more clauses matter before you book. Where there is no proof of purchase, LG starts the warranty ninety days from the manufacture date. LG also excludes service trips made to deliver, pick up or install the product, or to correct house wiring.

That frames the repair or replace conversation on an older LG. Direct drive washing machine repair, bearing work and control board replacement all land differently once you know the labour is on you.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Five checks are worth making before an LG washer repair near me search turns into a booking. Start with the load, because LG says the washer performs best at about two thirds of drum capacity. A stopped spin on an unbalanced drum is a design response. On a front loader, open the drain pump filter behind the lower cover, and expect water if there is water in the drum.

Then look behind the machine. LG’s ceiling for the drain hose is 96 inches, and draining works best no higher than 66 inches. A top loader also has a floor of 29.5 inches, and LG lists a hose below that as a cause of the IE fill error. Do not push the hose more than 8 inches into the standpipe, which LG says causes siphoning and odors.

Two last ones. LG states that leak-limiting supply hoses are not recommended, because they can trip falsely and stop the washer filling. If a newly delivered machine walks and bangs, the shipping bolts in LG’s rear-view diagram may still be in. LG’s own anti-vibration system is TrueBalance, and it cannot compensate for bolts nobody removed.

Past that, the work is ours. Direct Drive motors, bearings, drain pumps, water level and pressure sensors, inlet valves, lock assemblies and control boards are ours. So are the pulsator and clutch on a top loader, and the heat pump circuit on a WashCombo. Every LG washer technician we send is insured, and the labour carries a written warranty.

We source LG components through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts. Timing depends on the supplier, so we confirm it before committing to a repair rather than after.

Book an LG washer service visit and give us the model number and the code on the panel. For another brand, our general washer repair page covers it, and the whole LG line sits under LG appliance repair and LG laundry repair.

LG Washing Machine Repair FAQ

How do I run Smart Diagnosis on my LG washer?

It depends on the platform. On the front load models LG’s steps are power on, press Options, then select Additional Settings and Smart Diagnosis. On the top load models you power on, then press and hold the Temp button for 3 seconds or longer. Either way the phone sits within 10 mm of the Power button.

Where is the drain pump filter on my LG washer?

On a front loader it sits behind a cover at the bottom of the front panel, and LG’s own diagram names it. LG says a Drainage message appears when it is clogged. LG’s top load manual documents no drain pump filter at all.

How high can the drain hose be on an LG washer?

LG’s maximum is 96 inches on both platforms, and draining works best no higher than 66 inches. A top loader also has a minimum of 29.5 inches, and LG lists a hose below that as a cause of the IE fill error.

What does dE mean on my LG washer?

It depends which machine you have, which is why this page carries two code tables. On a front loader LG says dE is a door that is not closed properly. On a top loader LG’s manual calls the same code a lid error.

Is an LG WashTower one machine or two?

Two machines in one cabinet, sharing a Center Control panel. LG’s own product names give a washer capacity and a dryer capacity for the same unit, and the two halves are diagnosed and repaired separately.

Does the LG WashCombo need a vent or a dryer outlet?

Neither. It is ventless and runs on a standard 120V supply at 12 amps through the cord attached to the unit. LG still specifies upper and lower vent openings for a closet installation.

How long is the warranty on an LG washer, and does LG cover the labor?

One year parts and labor, ten years parts only on the Direct Drive Motor, and three years parts only on the drum. Against the longer terms LG writes that you are responsible for any applicable labor cost. Check your coverage with LG before booking a paid visit.
