Midea sells three genuinely different dryers under one badge, and they fail in different places. Vented machines lose heat at the element, the thermostats or the duct. Heat pump machines lose it somewhere else entirely.
Full-size vented electric machines heat air with a resistance element and vent it through a 4 inch duct. The Midea front load electric dryer line runs 6.7 to 8.0 cu ft. MLE45N1AWW is a Midea 8.0 cu ft dryer, MLTE45N4BWW sits at 7.0 and MLTE37N1BWW at 6.7.
The S7 steam models add a cold water inlet. It is fed from a Y connector shared with the washer. Midea electric dryer repair here is mostly airflow, thermal protection and the element.
Heat comes from a burner instead of an element, and everything downstream is identical. These machines use automatic ignition, so there is no standing pilot. That surprises a lot of owners.
The Midea front load gas dryer is MLG45N1AWW at 8.0 cu ft, and MLG52S7AGS carries steam at the same capacity. Both ship configured for natural gas, and an LP address means conversion by a qualified technician. Midea gas dryer repair starts at the shut-off valve.

The Midea compact heat pump dryer is MLHE27H7BWW, and the Midea stackable dryer is MLE25H7BWW. Both are Midea 4.4 cu ft dryer models. That capacity is the quickest way to tell a heat pump machine from a vented one. A Midea 4D Sensor Dry dryer reads moisture and temperature together, and that badge belongs to this line. The full-size vented machines say Sensor Dry instead.

Start at the breaker. On a full-size electric machine the drum motor runs off one leg of the 240 volt supply. A half-open breaker leaves the drum turning with no heat.
Confirm the cycle is not sitting on Air Fluff. Then clean the lint filter and inspect the exhaust duct, because restricted airflow is what opens thermal protection devices. A blown thermal fuse or a tripped high-limit thermostat is usually a symptom, not the disease.

Four checks come before any panel comes off.
On the compact heat pump models the power cord is not supplied with US electric units.
A machine that never woke up after delivery may only need a cord. That is a dryer hook-up job. After that we test the door switch, then the start circuit, then the motor.
A panel that lights but ignores every key is usually locked. It is rarely broken. On the compact heat pump models, holding two buttons together for three seconds engages the control lock. After that only the power button responds. It clears on a power loss, which is why the fault seems to come and go.
Turn the drum by hand before anything else. A drum that spins freely points at a broken drive belt. Resistance or grinding points at the drum support rollers or a drum bearing.
A motor that hums and trips its overload points at the start circuit. It can also be the capacitor where one is fitted, or a seized idler pulley. Midea’s own noise list starts simpler: coins, buttons, nails, broken zips. Check the pockets first. An unlevel dryer on an old basement slab imitates a bearing complaint, and over-extended leveling feet make it vibrate.
Hot but damp is the giveaway. Heat is being made and the moisture is not leaving. On a vented machine that is nearly always the exhaust run.
Midea’s own limits assume 4 inch rigid metal duct and a 4 inch weather hood.
We measure static pressure at the connection with a manometer. Midea’s window is 0.3 to 0.8 inches of water column, so a run outside it is a measurement rather than an argument. Front Range air is dry. A vented Midea drying badly here usually has a real fault, not a humid day.
Past the duct come the blower wheel and the moisture sensor bars. Softener film there ends a cycle early. A Midea sensor dryer not heating at all belongs to the previous section.

The compact heat pump models are different. Midea documents three fault conditions for that platform and prints no code number for any of them. A heat pump Midea that faults without showing a code is behaving exactly as documented. Any code quoted for one online was invented elsewhere.
The door holds a double-layer filter, an outer screen and an inner one behind it. Both are meant to be cleaned after every cycle. Most owners clean the outer one for years without learning the inner filter exists. That gap explains a lot of machines that went slow. Midea dryer troubleshooting here is cheapest-first, so the air inlet and the moisture sensors come next, then the installation itself.
Empty the tank after each use. A full one pauses the cycle by design. If the water icon still flashes on a tank that is not full, the tank is not the fault. The question then is whether condensate is reaching it at all, which brings the sump, the pump and the internal hose into view.
On machines plumbed to a drain, both buckles on the hose extension have to be closed. The hose must run without kinks and stay below 80 cm. Lift it higher and the condensate backs up.
Lint packs the cooling fins over months and the machine quietly loses its ability to condense. Midea’s fix is a vacuum with a dusting brush, roughly every two months. It also warns that a dryer will not dry if those fins are bent or damaged. So they get vacuumed, never brushed by hand.
Only then does a sealed system diagnosis make sense. The evaporator coil pulls moisture from the recirculating air and the condenser coil puts the heat back. A machine that tumbles, blows warm rather than hot, and leaves the tank nearly empty is showing the low-charge or dead-compressor picture.
Gas appliance input ratings are stated for elevations up to 2,000 feet. Above that the fuel gas code derates the input by 4 percent for every 1,000 feet. Denver sits near 5,280 feet, so a gas dryer here makes roughly 13 percent less heat than its nameplate. Nothing on the machine compensates.
There is no orifice change and no valve adjustment for altitude. The result is longer cycles, permanently. Judge a suspected heating fault against how the machine ran when it was new.
Midea prints the same warning in both dryer manuals. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to weather or freezing temperatures. A Front Range garage in January is exactly that environment.
