Repairing Frigidaire Dryers in the Denver Metro Area

Frigidaire’s current catalog lists seven vented dryers: four 7 cu ft gas and electric models and the dryer half of three laundry centers. Our insured technicians handle Frigidaire dryer repair on all seven, from a dryer that will not start to one that tumbles without heat. The plate inside the door opening decides the rest.

Seven Frigidaire Dryers, Three Guides

Frigidaire’s documents split its current dryers into three families, each with its own Use & Care guide. Two are 27-inch standalone pairs, and the third is the dryer half of the laundry centers. The table below sorts them.

For all seven Frigidaire dryers, repair starts at the serial plate inside the door opening. On a laundry center, that dryer plate covers the whole unit. Frigidaire’s dryer guides and spec sheets give no serial date code.

Our Frigidaire laundry appliances page sets these dryers beside Frigidaire’s top-load washers and its laundry centers.

  • The laundry center as a unit: its washer half, lid lock and drain are on our washer and laundry center page. This page keeps the dryer half.
  • A Gallery badge: Frigidaire lists no Gallery or Professional dryer today. A Gallery dryer belongs on our Frigidaire Gallery page.
  • A stacked front-load pair: Frigidaire’s website sends shoppers for stacked pairs to Electrolux. Check the badge before booking Frigidaire front load dryer repair. An Electrolux pair goes to our Electrolux page.
  • No ventless model: every current Frigidaire dryer vents outdoors. A ventless guide on Frigidaire’s document site belongs to an Electrolux compact dryer.
  • An older Frigidaire dryer: this page prints the codes from the guides filed under the four current standalone models. An older machine is still ours, and the work starts from its model number.

Recall 23244 on Older Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers

An FFLG4033 model number means one check before any paid repair. CPSC recall 23244, announced July 13, 2023, covers two models sold from October 2014 through April 2018. CPSC lists 23 reports of fire.

  • Models

FFLG4033QW and FFLG4033QT gas laundry centers, with the Frigidaire name printed below the dryer door.

  • Serial ranges

4E44114739 to 4E81603034 on the QW, and 4E44308482 to 4E81603380 on the QT. The number is on a white sticker inside the dryer door.

  • Hazard

The felt seal on the dryer drum can fold inward, which can lead to lint buildup and a fire hazard.

  • What to do

Stop using the dryer now. The washer half can still run, and the recall offers a free inspection, repair and lint removal.

Won’t Start or Turn On: Frigidaire’s Own Checks

A 7000A or 7523B left on for more than ten minutes without Start switches itself off. That is by design, not a fault. So a Frigidaire dryer not turning on when you press Start may just need Power pressed first. On the 7000A, hold Power for one full second.

A laundry center starts and pauses with Start/Pause and stops with Cancel, so those are the buttons to use there.

Past the owner checks below, Frigidaire’s own list names a tripped thermal limiter. That switch turns off the Frigidaire dryer motor in an overheat, so the dryer will not start. Frigidaire says a service technician replaces it after correcting the fault. It is replaced, not reset.

The standalone guides tie that switch to electric models. The laundry center guide gives no fuel limit. Where it trips, a visit has two jobs: find the cause of the overheat, then fit the new switch.

When a Frigidaire dryer won’t start at all, run these checks from Frigidaire’s guides and support site first.

  • Power cord: push the plug fully into the outlet. Frigidaire rules out extension cords, and its gas-dryer text rules out adapters too.
  • House panel: reset the breaker or replace the fuse, without raising the fuse size. The dryer should have a circuit of its own.
  • Door: close it fully, because the dryer will not run with the door open. A Frigidaire dryer door latch that no longer holds the door shut acts the same way.
  • Child Lock: on the 7000A it locks every button except Power. It is set with Temp and Dry Level held together for three seconds.

Tumbles Without Heat: Two Breakers and the Gas Supply

Frigidaire electric dryer repair starts at the house panel. These dryers use two house fuses or breakers, and with one blown, Frigidaire says the drum may turn but the heater will not operate. That makes the panel the first stop for a Frigidaire dryer not heating. Check both breakers before you pay for any heating part.

Frigidaire gas dryer repair starts at the supply. The shutoff valve must be open, and the burner needs enough air around the dryer. An empty LP tank or a break in natural gas service stops the heat until it returns. Those are the first checks for a Frigidaire gas dryer not heating.

Settings can pass for a fault. Air Fluff tumbles without heat, and the 7000A adds a No Heat temperature. Frigidaire’s no-heat lists never name a Frigidaire dryer heating element. So a Frigidaire dryer heating element repair comes only after those checks pass and the part tests bad.

Frigidaire’s gas dryers are set up for natural gas. On propane, the guides say to fit the LP kit first. The installation text calls for a qualified gas technician.

C9, E4 and E5: What Frigidaire’s Dryer Codes Mean

The two standalone guides print three Frigidaire dryer error codes, and the laundry center guide prints none. E4 is the mild one. The dryer finishes the cycle and can still run Manual Cycles. Frigidaire describes Timed Dry as a cycle that is not Sensor Dry.

The Frigidaire dryer troubleshooting codes below apply to the four current standalone models only. On an older machine, the model number comes first.

Slow Drying, 208 V Circuits and the Clean Lint Filter Light

An electric Frigidaire dryer on a 208 V circuit takes about 20 percent longer than on 240 V. The laundry center guide calls that normal and expected. It is not a fault to fix.

Frigidaire’s checklist puts a cabinet that feels or smells hot in the same row as slow drying. It sends you to the lint filter and the outside hood. A Frigidaire dryer burning smell is different: stop the dryer, leave it off and book a visit.

On a laundry center, the Clean Lint Filter light comes on after every drying cycle as a reminder. Frigidaire says it is not a warning of a clogged duct or filter. If a Frigidaire dryer keeps saying Clean Lint Filter after a cleaning, check which machine you have. On some laundry centers Frigidaire calls that normal.

For a Frigidaire dryer not drying well, these are the checks from Frigidaire’s list and support site.

  • Lint filter: clean it with every load. Frigidaire says never to run the dryer without it, or with it blocked or damaged.
  • Exhaust duct: 4-inch rigid or semi-rigid metal, inside the length chart, with nothing clogging the outside hood.
  • Small loads: on a 7000A or 7523B, a small or nearly dry load can end a Sensor Dry cycle after a few minutes. Frigidaire says to use Timed Dry for those.
  • Moisture sensing bars: softener sheets can coat them. The guides say to wash the bars and filter in warm, soapy water. A Frigidaire support article says to wipe the bars with rubbing alcohol instead.
  • Moisture in the drum between cycles: on a 7000A or 7523B, Frigidaire blames an exhaust damper stuck open or missing. Fix it, clean it or fit a new one.

Vent Limits, the 18-Month Cleaning and Where a Dryer Can Stand

Each family has its own vent chart, measured in 4-inch rigid metal duct. A 4-inch hood allows a longer run than a 2.5-inch louvered one. The long-vent FLCE7523A reaches 127 ft, a length Frigidaire forbids on standard models. A layout the chart does not show needs a back-pressure test.

Frigidaire’s own documents disagree on elbows: the standard charts stop at three 90° bends, while the checklists and the installation sheets allow four.

Semi-rigid metal is allowed for up to 8 ft, while plastic and foil are never allowed. Joints take metal foil tape, not duct tape. The outside hood needs a swing-out damper, no screen and 12 inches of clearance below it.

The guides want the dryer interior, lint screen housing and exhaust duct cleaned about every 18 months by qualified service personnel. The installation guides ask for the exhaust system to be inspected and cleaned at least that often with normal use. Heavier use needs it sooner. That duct work is our dryer vent cleaning service.

Where the dryer stands matters too. A standalone Frigidaire dryer in a garage must sit at least 18 inches above the floor. A laundry center’s dryer portion carries the same rule. Neither belongs anywhere gasoline or other flammables are stored.

The floor itself has to be solid, with no more than 1 inch of slope, and never carpet. The laundry center guide adds that a floor may need reinforcing.

Sounds Frigidaire Calls Normal, and Noises That Mean Stop

A thump or rolling sound at start-up is normal on the standalone dryers. The suspension rollers take a flat spot after the dryer sits idle or a heavy load waits in the drum. It fades as the dryer runs. Airflow noise, a clicking gas valve and the burner are normal too.

So a Frigidaire dryer making noise when spinning may be working as designed. Coins and buckles are the next suspect. Empty the pockets, fasten buckles and turn items inside out. An empty run shows whether the noise is the machine or the load.

A Frigidaire dryer squeaking, grinding or rubbing is different. Frigidaire’s guides say to stop using it and contact a qualified technician at once. The noise could mean a mechanical breakdown that leads to fire or injury.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Frigidaire dryer troubleshooting starts as owner work: the cord, the door, the lint filter and the outside hood. Add the breaker, and both breakers on an electric model. Do those before anyone tries to fix Frigidaire dryer problems with parts.

A Frigidaire dryer not working after that is ours. That includes a Frigidaire dryer not starting, a C9 or E5 code, or an E4 that keeps returning. A tripped thermal limiter, a gas dryer with no heat and any squeak or grind are ours too. I usually start at the panel and the vent, because that is where Frigidaire’s own lists start.

Our insured technicians handle Frigidaire clothes dryer repair across the Denver Metro Area. Gas and electric models are both ours. We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts. We fit OEM parts when the supplier has the right one, and every repair carries our 100-day labor warranty.

We order a heating element for Frigidaire dryer models only after it tests bad. Have these details ready before you book.

  1. Model number: from the serial plate inside the door opening.
  2. What the console shows: any code or lit status light.
  3. What happened: no start, no heat, slow drying or a new noise.
  4. Then book: our Frigidaire dryer repair service starts from those details, so book online with them in hand.

Frigidaire’s One-Year Dryer Warranty, and When It Starts

Every current Frigidaire dryer lists a one-year warranty on parts and labor. The guides disagree on when that year starts, so check yours before you pay for a repair.

The 7523B guide counts the year from the original date of purchase. That rule covers the Frigidaire 7 cu ft electric dryer FLVE7523BW and its gas twin.

The 7000A guide counts from the date of delivery instead. So does the laundry center guide. The Frigidaire 7 cu ft electric dryer FLVE7000AW and its gas twin follow that rule.

In that first year, Frigidaire’s warranty service handles a defect, so use that route first. After the year ends, the repair is ours. Other Frigidaire appliances in your home are on our Frigidaire page.

The written warranty leaves out several dryer calls, and the checklists add one more.

  • No defect: service calls that find none, correct the installation or show how to use the dryer.
  • Commercial use: Frigidaire designs these dryers for homes, not for places such as restaurants or salons.
  • Drum damage: the standalone checklists say scratches from coins, buckles and other objects in the load are not covered.

Frigidaire Dryer Repair FAQ

Is there a Frigidaire dryer reset button?

Not on the consoles the two standalone guides describe. On electric models the overheat part, a thermal limiter switch, is replaced rather than reset. Frigidaire says a technician fits a new one after correcting the fault.

Looking up how to reset Frigidaire dryer models? The guides point to your house panel. Reset the breaker or replace the fuse, then turn the dryer back on.

Why is my Frigidaire dryer not spinning?

Frigidaire’s standalone checklist has no row for a still drum. Its does-not-start row is the closest: the cord, the house breaker, an open door and a tripped thermal limiter.

That limiter turns off the motor on an electric model. An overloaded dryer can overheat its motor too, and Frigidaire’s support site says to let it cool for 30 minutes. If the dryer runs but the drum stays still, that is ours to test.

What if my Frigidaire dryer won’t turn off?

On the 7000A, Power turns the dryer off or cancels a cycle with a one-second press and hold. Turning the cycle selector alone does not change a running cycle. On a laundry center, Cancel stops the cycle.

Every cycle ends with an unheated cool-down. Frigidaire warns against stopping it early unless you take the load out and spread it. A dryer that will not stop is ours to look at.

Do I need a repairman for an E5 code on a Frigidaire dryer?

Yes. Frigidaire’s table says to call service for E5 and for C9. E4 is the one exception. The dryer finishes the cycle, and you call only if the code continues.

Why did my new Frigidaire electric dryer come without a power cord?

Frigidaire ships its US electric dryers without one. The guides call for a UL-listed 30 A dryer cord, three-wire or four-wire to match the outlet. New branch-circuit installations need the four-wire kind. Switching a dryer from four-wire to three-wire also means moving the internal ground back to the green screw.
