LG Range Hood Repair Across the Denver Metro Area

Wilson & Myers takes LG range hood repair calls across the Denver Metro Area. LG hood service starts with the badge and the control panel, because LG documents two different hoods under one name. Our technicians are insured, and every repair carries a 100-day labor warranty.

Why an LG Hood Switches Itself On With Nobody in the Kitchen

LG’s own spec tables give the control as IR Touch, and LG’s product copy calls it 5-Speed IR touch controls. That is an infrared strip, not the capacitive glass most hoods use. It reads a beam of light.

LG’s troubleshooting table lists a hood that turns on by itself. The cause LG gives is a spot light or a kitchen lamp aimed at the controls. LG states plainly that the switch controls are light sensitive.

So a recessed can or an under-cabinet puck pointed at the control strip is, to the hood, a finger. Move the lamp or switch it off. If the hood settles, nothing on it is broken.

Every hold gesture on this panel runs three seconds. A three second hold with the fan running sets the delay off, and the blower keeps clearing the kitchen for five more minutes. LG range hood control panel repair is a real job, and it is not this one.

Thirty Fan Hours, Then a Hundred and Twenty

An LG chimney hood counts run hours, not calendar months. The slow blink on the button is a counter reaching its number, and LG ships two of them. Neither is a fault.

LG hood filter reminders, counted in fan hours
ReminderWhat LG countsWhat LG says to do
Mesh Filter Clean30 hours of fan usage, then the button indicator blinks slowlyAlways on, and LG gives no way to switch it off. Hood off, hold the button three seconds. All LED indicators blink twice
Charcoal Filter Replace120 hours of fan usageDisabled at the factory. For a recirculating install, hold two buttons together for three seconds to enable it. The LED indicators light for three seconds

Three seconds is the number to hold on to. Resetting the charcoal counter is the same three second hold with the hood off, confirmed by two blinks. A shorter press does nothing, and the hood then reads as broken when it is not.

The filters themselves are aluminum mesh on both LG hood lines, cleaned by hand or in the dishwasher on low heat. The charcoal filter is a separate part, and it only exists where the hood vents back into the room.

The Blower Stops and the Light Stays On

This one reads as a dead hood and often is not. LG names a thermally protected system on this machine. It detects the blower running too hot, shuts it down, and runs it again once cool.

That is LG’s documented reason a hood can look dead while its light still works, and the fault can be gone before anyone arrives. Tell us whether the blower came back. That answer narrows an LG range hood blower motor replacement to a motor, a wiring path, or nothing.

LG's own hood symptoms and the causes LG lists
What LG calls itThe cause LG givesWho clears it
After installation, the unit doesn’t workPower not on at the breaker, or the power cord and cable locking connector not properly connectedYours first

A hood whose blower runs while the LED strip stays dark gets one line in LG’s table and no home remedy. LG range hood light repair here means one 9W LED strip with two brightness levels, not a bulb you swap.

LG’s Six Inch Collar, and Where LG Says to Go Bigger

LG fits the chimney hoods with a vertical internal blower and a 6 inch round outlet. Its installation notes call for a minimum of 6 inch round duct to hold maximum air flow efficiency. Four lines down, the same document says to increase that to 7 or 8 inches on a long run.

Both sentences are LG’s, on one document, and they do not contradict each other. Six inches is the floor, and LG expects the duct to grow as the run does. Rigid metal is what LG calls for, because flexible duct restricts airflow.

That is why LG answers a hood whose five speed levels all sound the same with a duct size rather than a part. An LG chimney hood repair call that opens with weak suction at every speed points at the duct first.

LG’s warning about where the duct ends carries no qualifier. Ductwork must never terminate into a wall cavity, a crawl space, a ceiling, an attic or a garage. If yours does, that is the finding.

Recirculating, and the kit LG points you at

A room-vented LG hood needs charcoal filters and a recirculation kit. LG’s builder spec sheet names that kit ZRC-01AN. It names Z1C-00AN as the duct cover extension for ceilings between 9 feet 10 inches and 12 feet. The hood itself ships with a telescoping duct cover.

That sheet then sends the buyer to an outside store to order both. It is LG’s own routing on LG’s own document, worth seeing before you assume every LG hood accessory comes from LG. We source LG hood parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts.

Those three photographs come from our own Denver Metro service calls. None shows an LG hood, and none is a picture of the IR touch strip described above.

Same Hood, Two Badges, and Not the Same Warranty

Put LG’s published specs for the HCED3015S and the LSHD3080ST side by side and they match line for line. Both run 200 to 600 CFM across five speeds, rated 1 to 6 sones, at 35 pounds. Both draw 4 amps at 120 volts on a 15 amp breaker, and mount 26 to 34 inches over the cooking surface.

The warranty does not match. The LG badge carries one year of parts and labor, and LG’s warranty text narrows that to internal functional parts. The LG STUDIO badge carries two years of parts and labor, with no such wording attached.

So LG studio range hood repair and LG range hood repair are two conversations about identical hardware. Read the badge before you decide you are out of cover.

Reading the model number

LG publishes no key to these model numbers, so treat what follows as a pattern across LG’s own names rather than a code. The first two digits are the width in inches, and the letters at the front tell you the line.

  • LSHD

LG STUDIO. LSHD3080ST, LSHD3680ST, LSHD3089BD and LSHD3689BD, with LSHD3089ST and LSHD3689ST listed as coming soon

  • HCEU

LG SIGNATURE. HCEU3039X at 30 inches, HCEU3639X at 36 inches

  • HCED

    The LG badge. HCED3015D, HCED3615D, HCED3015S and HCED3615S

Width shows up in the hardware too. A 36 inch chimney hood carries a side panel the 30 inch does not, printed in LG’s parts list. The 30 inch LG SIGNATURE hood weighs 38.6 pounds, against 35 for the LG and LG STUDIO hoods.

HCED3015D repair, HCED3615D repair, LSHD3680ST repair, LSHD3080ST repair, HCEU3039X repair and HCEU3639X repair all reach the same team here. Read us the whole string off the badge, the letters at the end included.

LG’s Under-Cabinet Hood Is a Different Machine

LG publishes US spec sheets, dated 2024, for a three size under-cabinet line: the 24 inch HUEZ2413S, the HUEZ3013S and the HUEZ3613S. Everything above about the touch strip stops here. The control on these is a 2-Speed Rocker Switch, with no touch panel, no Wi-Fi and no ThinQ.

The chimney hoods run 200 to 600 CFM across five speeds and carry LG ThinQ, where the app handles power, CFM, the lights and status. The under-cabinet sheets give 100 to 250 CFM across two speeds. LG hood repair on a rocker switch machine has fewer places to go wrong.

Then there is the number nobody expects. LG rates the under-cabinet line at 1.8 to 8.5 sones and the chimney line at 1 to 6. The smaller hood, moving well under half the air, is the louder one at full speed.

Mounting height moves as well. LG’s sheet for the HUEZ3013S gives 24 to 32 inches above the cooking surface, against 26 to 34 inches on the chimney models. If your hood has a rocker switch, say so when you book.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Four checks are yours, and every one comes from LG’s own list of causes rather than ours.

  1. The lamp above the hood, because LG’s cause for a hood that turns itself on is light aimed at the controls
  2. The breaker, then the power cord and its cable locking connector, LG’s first cause when a new install does nothing
  3. The mesh filters, cleaned by hand or in the dishwasher, then the reminder reset with a three second hold
  4. A mesh filter that rattles, which LG puts down to a filter sitting loose

After that it is ours. A blower that stays down once it has cooled is a job, and so is vibration traced to a damaged blower wheel. A blower running while the lights stay dark goes straight to service in LG’s own table. So does a hood that no longer separates its five speeds once the duct size checks out.

LG range hood service here also covers the touch panel, the LED strip and the wiring behind both. We tell you what the timing depends on before any part is ordered.

Book online for an LG range hood technician in Denver and read us the model number off the badge. Say whether the panel is a touch strip or a rocker switch, and whether the hood vents outside or back into the room. Those answers settle most of the diagnosis before we knock.

LG Range Hood Repair FAQ

Who repairs LG range hoods in the Denver Metro Area?

We do, and an LG range hood repair near me search across Denver Metro reaches us. LG vent hood repair, LG chimney hood repair and LG wall mount chimney hood repair go to the same insured team. Every brand of hood sits on our range hood repair page, and this brand starts at LG appliance repair.

Can an LG range hood blower motor be replaced?

Yes, and LG’s own symptom table reaches it twice. Check first whether the blower returns once cool, because the thermally protected system shuts a hot blower down by design. If it never returns, LG range hood fan motor repair in Denver is ours.

How long is the warranty on an LG range hood?

It depends on the badge rather than the hardware. LG badged hoods carry one year of parts and labor, narrowed to internal functional parts. LG STUDIO hoods carry two years.

Is an LG STUDIO hood the same as an LG hood?

On the published specs, yes, down to airflow, sones, speeds, lighting and weight. The warranty is the difference, so an LG studio hood and an LG hood can be one call with two answers about cover.

Do LG range hoods have error codes?

No. LG publishes error code lists for its ranges, refrigerators, washers, dryers and dishwashers, and none for hoods. The LG STUDIO hood is listed with SmartDiagnosis and Proactive Customer Care instead, so it reports to LG without ever showing you a code.

How much does LG range hood repair cost?

It depends on what failed, and a loose mesh filter and a blower motor are not the same job. We diagnose first and quote second, and you decide before anything is ordered. New hoods sit on our range hood installation page.

Other hood brands sit on our range hood brands page, and the rest of the LG kitchen line on LG cooking appliances. The full list is on our appliance brands page.

LG range hood not drawing?

Tell us whether the controls respond. LG hoods use infrared touch panels.
