LG Oven Repair and LG Wall Oven Repair Are One Job

LG’s US cooking line has ranges and wall ovens and nothing in between. LG builds no standalone oven, so LG oven repair and LG wall oven repair land here together. If yours sits inside a range body instead, start at LG range repair.

The LG Wall Oven Problems LG’s Own Manual Tells You to Report

Every LG wall oven manual carries a Before Calling for Service section. Read it first. LG uses it to separate real faults from behaviour the machine was designed to have.

  • Oven control beeps and shows any F code
  • Oven door does not open after a Self Clean cycle
  • Oven will not Self Clean
  • CLEAN and door flash, which LG attributes to Self Clean selected with the door open
  • Loc shows when you want to cook, which is Control Lock, not a failure

LG is as clear about what is normal, and four cases need no technician. A cooling fan running after the oven is off stops once the electronics cool. A convection fan pausing mid bake is deliberate. Crackling is metal heating, and racks that stick were left in during a Self Clean.

The F Code Your LG Prints Depends on How Many Cavities It Has

The same symptom prints a different code depending on which LG is in the wall. The manuals number the cavities, so the cavity count changes the code you read.

What LG's own wall oven manuals print
CodeWhat the LG manual statesWhich LG wall oven
F-3Key short errorSingle, WSEP4723F and WSEP4727F.
F-9Oven not heatingSingle, where there is only one cavity.
F-9Oven not heating, upper ovenDouble, WDEP9423F.
F-19Oven not heating, lower ovenDouble, WDEP9423F.

LG publishes one consolidated cooking error list for the US, and it is titled for ranges. There is no wall oven error page in its US help library. That list glosses F9 as an upper oven not heating properly, and a single has no upper oven.

So the manual for your model governs, and the consolidated list is a second opinion. We also refuse to read its induction and griddle codes onto a wall oven, since those belong to ranges and LG cooktops.

Want the fault explained first? Our oven not heating guide walks the diagnosis. This page is the repair.

Generic electric oven references, not LG machines: component locations, a burned bake element, and a reset sequence.

Auto Conversion and Air Fry Move the Temperature LG Shows You

Many LG oven repair calls open with runs cold or runs hot. Three documented LG behaviours make the display and the cavity disagree, and none is a failed part.

Convection Auto Conversion is the first. LG subtracts 25 degrees F when converting a recipe temperature to a convection one. It is enabled by default and appears as Avto in the settings. Enter 350 for a convection bake and 325 shows after preheat.

Air Fry moves the number the other way. LG raises the entered temperature by 45 degrees F automatically, across 300 to 500 degrees F. On an LG double wall oven with air fryer, LG titles that section Air Fry, upper oven only. So an LG wall oven with air fryer may air fry in one cavity alone.

Third is the calibration offset LG puts under AdJU, moved 15 degrees F at a time and re-tested. Work all three before deciding an LG convection oven has a failed temperature sensor.

EasyClean Runs Ten Minutes, Self Clean Locks the Door for Hours

LG ships two cleaning cycles that behave nothing alike. EasyClean uses only water, for ten minutes, at low temperature, to loosen light soil before you wipe by hand.

It will not start while the cavity is above 150 degrees F. LG specifies a ten ounce spray bottle of distilled or filtered water, because tap water leaves mineral deposits on the oven bottom.

Self Clean is the long one, and LG’s settings table gives a minimum of three hours, a maximum of five, and a default of four. LG also publishes the warning that turns cleaning into a repair. An F code with three long beeps during the cycle means a malfunction in self clean mode.

The commonest question afterwards is the locked door. LG says to allow about an hour to cool, and the door opens when the lock clears. If it stays locked well past that, the mechanism is ours.

LG’s steam wall oven adds a fourth cycle. On WSEP4727F the steam feeder tank sits over the cavity and slides out from the front. LG’s stated failure mode is hard water clogging the steam generator with scale. Its Descaling function runs one hour forty-three, on a fifty to one water and citric acid mix.

InstaView on that model is two knocks on the centre of the glass, and the light goes out after two and a half minutes. LG disables it during Self Clean, Control Lock and Sabbath Mode.

The Breaker an LG Wall Oven Needs Is Not One Number

LG’s installation manuals print an electrical table, and the numbers move by model, not by category. This is what gets missed when one LG wall oven replaces another in the same hole.

LG's power consumption and protection circuit at 240 volts
LG model familyPower consumptionRecommended circuit
WSEP4723, WSEP4721 single4600 W30 A.
WSES4728, WSEP4727 single6100 W30 A.
WDEP9423, WDEP9421 double9200 W40 A.
WDEP9427 double10700 W50 A.
WDES9428 double10200 W50 A.
WCEP6423 combination5800 W40 A.
WCES6428, WCEP6427 combination7800 W50 A.

At 208 volts the brackets shift again. LG lists the WSEP4723 and WSEP4721 singles at 3500 W there and recommends 20 A, and every double moves to 40 A. LG’s own instruction is to read the rating plate first, then use the table.

One rule applies to all of them. LG states in every one of these manuals that the oven must be hard wired into an approved junction box. A plug and receptacle is not permitted. This is not a combination oven quirk, and treating it as one wires a single or a double wrong.

It matters after install too. LG’s warranty documents exclude damage from incorrect electrical current or voltage, and service trips made to correct wiring. The supply side of that junction box is an electrician’s, not ours.

Generic wall oven references, not LG models: a cabinet opening, and a hand on a temperature control.

The LG Wall Ovens and Built-In Microwave Ovens We Take

LG’s US wall oven category renders three subcategories: single, double, combination. LG built-in oven repair covers all three, and the model tag decides the rest.

On the LG single wall oven side we take WSEP4723F and WSEP4727F, the steam and InstaView model. LG names the WSEP4721 and WSES4728 families in its own electrical table. The compact WSED3023B and the earlier LWS and LSWS machines, LWS3081ST among them, count too.

LG double wall oven repair covers WDEP9423F, WDEP9421, WDEP9427 and WDES9428, plus the earlier LWD series. LG combination wall ovens run WCEP6423F, WCEP6427 and WCES6428, plus the LWC series. LG STUDIO and LG SIGNATURE are line tiers rather than different machines, though an LG STUDIO wall oven carries a different warranty term.

A wall oven is sized to its cabinet opening, so a 27 inch cutout and a 30 inch cutout are not interchangeable. Measure before planning a replacement.

The microwave cavity in an LG combination oven

An LG wall oven microwave combo puts a microwave cavity above an oven cavity. LG’s built-in microwave speed ovens MZBZ1715S and MZBZ1727X drop into the same cabinet run. They are a different platform with a different code set, so merging the two lists teaches the wrong code.

Error codes LG prints for the MZBZ1715S speed oven
CodeLG's stated cause
F1High Temperature Sensor Open.
F2High Temperature Sensor Short.
F4Humidity Sensor Error.
F22Low Temperature Sensor Open.
F23Low Temperature Sensor Short.

F1, F2, F4 and F22 appear on both LG lists and mean different things on each. On LG’s consolidated cooking list F1 and F2 are an oven thermistor; on the speed oven they are the high temperature sensor.

We take built-in and combination microwave cavities. We do not take over-the-range or countertop microwaves, on LG or any brand. That is why MZBZ1715S and MZBZ1727X are named here with no page of their own.

What we could not confirm, said plainly

Every LG wall oven in LG’s own electrical tables is electric, at 208 or 240 volts, and no gas wattage appears in them. So there is no igniter to replace, and we cannot name an LG gas wall oven for you. We are not claiming LG never built one.

The same goes for a 24 inch LG wall oven, which LG’s live category does not show. Send the model tag and we will say plainly whether we take it.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Five minutes of checking before you book changes what the visit costs you in time. Work this list first.

  1. Read the code off the panel exactly as shown, hyphen included
  2. Rule out Control Lock, shown as Loc, and Sabbath Mode, shown as 5b, neither of which LG calls an error
  3. If the complaint is temperature, check Convection Auto Conversion and Air Fry first
  4. After a Self Clean cycle, allow an hour to cool and wait for the lock to clear
  5. Photograph the model and serial tag on the underside of the control panel

What is ours starts where that list ends. Thermistor and heating faults behind F-9 and F-19, door locks that stay engaged, convection fans, meat probe circuits and control boards. Steam generator and descaling hardware too, and the oven temperature sensor when it truly has failed.

We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts, including LG oven parts ordered against your exact model. Our technicians are insured, and the work is diagnosis first. We name the failed component and what replacing it involves before anything is ordered.

That is what an LG oven repair service visit covers, and the honest answer on LG oven repair cost, since the figure follows the part. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the model number on an LG wall oven?

LG publishes the location for wall ovens specifically: the underside of the control panel. LG also publishes how to read the serial. Model numbers start with a letter; serials start with three numbers, the year of manufacture then two digits for the month.

Does LG’s wall oven warranty differ by model?

Yes, because LG links a warranty document per model. The standard wall oven card gives one year from original retail purchase, parts and labour, on internal and functional parts. LG STUDIO wall ovens get two years on that scope. The combination card adds ten years on the Inverter Magnetron alone.

What is EasyClean on an LG oven?

It is LG’s short cycle: water only, ten minutes, low heat, to loosen light soil before hand cleaning. It is no substitute for LG oven self clean, which runs three to five hours and locks the door. That LG self cleaning oven cycle is the one that beeps three times with an F code when it fails.

Can Smart Diagnosis tell you anything before a visit?

Often, yes. On a connected LG ThinQ oven the app reads the fault over Wi-Fi, and LG supports only 2.4 GHz. The audible path needs no Wi-Fi: hold START three seconds, then keep the phone about ten millimetres from the panel.

Do you repair LG ovens that are not wall ovens?

Yes. LG’s ovens live in a wall cabinet or a range body. See LG cooking appliance repair for the category, or the LG brand page for the rest. Our wall oven repair page covers other brands.
