Insured Maytag Repair in Denver Metro: Cooking Appliances

Maytag Cooking Appliances We Service

Maytag Cooking Appliance Repair Across Denver Metro

Before booking anything, check what the display is actually telling you. Five of the ten things a Maytag range shows are settings rather than faults. Each one sends people looking for a technician they do not need.

If it is a real fault, it is usually a sensor, an element, an igniter or a latch motor. All four are routine work on a machine worth keeping.

Wilson & Myers covers Maytag oven and stove repair across the Denver Metro Area. Maytag range and oven service and Maytag cooking appliances service run from the same insured team. Gas and electric, freestanding and slide-in, wall ovens and standalone cooktops.

Read the Badge Before You Book

Maytag encodes the fuel and the shape of the machine into the model number, and its own service literature publishes the decode. Four letters tell a technician what to expect.

  • MER: Maytag electric, freestanding range. Two hundred and forty volts, with a bake element and a broil element.
  • MGR: Maytag gas, freestanding range. A gas supply plus a standard outlet, with igniters and a spark board.
  • MES and MGS: the slide-in versions of the same two machines.
  • MET: a two-oven freestanding range, where a fault in one cavity does not always mean a fault in the other.

The letter after the M is the whole fuel question. E is electric, G is gas, and I marks induction, which we do not service. The letter after that gives the shape, R for freestanding, S for slide-in, D for drop-in and T for two-oven.

Two more digits are worth knowing. In the feature position, a 6 means a thermal oven, a 7 means fan convection and an 8 means true convection. So an owner reading MER8800F can be told they have true convection. That means a convection element and a fan that a thermal model does not have.

Three Control Platforms, and the Codes Stop Agreeing

This is the part that catches people out, and it is why we ask which display you have. Maytag ranges run on three separate control generations, and the service manual publishes a different fault-code table for each.

  • Maxwell and MRC

Diagnostics entered with CANCEL, CANCEL, START. Its code list is its own.

  • LCC and LCX

Same entry sequence. The display width splits it further, because a narrow display shows three characters and a wider one shows four.

  • Indigo

A touch screen, entered through the service menu or by pressing three keypads three times.

Here is the consequence, and it is not theoretical. The code F3E2 means the warming drawer sensor is open or shorted on one platform, and a bake or broil over-temperature on another. One is a drawer nobody cooks in. The other is an oven that has overheated.

Read that code against the wrong list and you either ignore a thermal fault or chase a drawer. That is why the Maytag oven repair page publishes three tables and never merges them.

The cooktop half has its own numbers and its own most-common complaint, and those sit on our Maytag stove repair page.

A narrow display showing only F3 is not a truncated code either. It is a three-character control doing exactly what it was built to do.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Some of what a Maytag range shows is not a fault at all. LOC is the control lock, CAL is calibration, and a blank clock is a setting somebody turned on.

Call us when the display shows a code beginning with F. Call us when the oven will not hold temperature, or when a burner will not light after the usual checks.

Book online with the model badge to hand. MER or MGR tells us the fuel before anyone is dispatched, and that decides half the visit.

What This Section Covers, and What It Does Not

Maytag’s own support taxonomy splits cooking into cooktops, wall ovens and ranges, microwaves, and ventilation. We follow the same line, with two exceptions that are ours rather than theirs.

  1. Covered: a freestanding, slide-in range or drop-in range. A double oven or a single oven, a wall oven, and the cooktop half of any of them.
  2. Covered: a standalone electric cooktop or gas cooktop, ceramic glass surface or gas burner, diagnosed by symptom because most carry no display.
  3. Covered: self-clean faults, which have their own codes and their own door-lock behaviour.
  4. Not covered, induction. A model badge reading MI is outside our scope, whatever else is wrong with it.
  5. Not covered, microwaves. Maytag’s line is over-the-range and countertop, and we service built-in and luxury units only.
  6. Covered, range hoods. Maytag builds them and we repair them, though almost nobody searches for it, so there is no separate page.

Maytag range hood repair is worth a sentence of its own. Maytag sells a full hood lineup, we service them, and the demand is too thin to justify a page. Ask for it by name and you will get it.

If you are not sure which you have, tell us the model number and we will say plainly before anyone is booked. Coverage across every brand sits on our oven repair and stove and cooktop pages.

How a Maytag Cooking Call Runs

The service manual gates the diagnosis before any component is touched. On an electric range nothing proceeds until the outlet reads within ten percent above and fifteen percent below 240 volts. On a gas range the same gate applies at 120 volts.

That gate exists because a range that will not heat is often a supply problem wearing a control-board costume. A blown fuse or a tripped breaker ends the call before it starts.

Then the stored codes, read against the right platform table. Then the components, with numbers rather than opinions. An oven sensor reads 1,000 to 1,200 ohms. A bake or broil element reads 10 to 40 ohms, and a gas igniter 40 to 400.

Only after that does a part get ordered. Every repair carries a 100-day labor warranty, and we source Maytag parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts.

Maytag Cooking Appliance FAQ

My cooktop burners work but the oven does not. Is the oven broken?

Often not. On a gas range a second shut-off valve sits at the pressure regulator. With it closed, gas reaches the cooktop but never the oven. Most owners do not know it exists. Our guide to a gas oven that will not light works through that pattern in full.

Do you repair Maytag wall ovens as well as ranges?

Yes. Maytag treats wall ovens and ranges as one support category and so do we. The code index is genuinely different between them, which is another reason we ask for the model number rather than the appliance name.

What does LOC mean on my Maytag range?

It is the control lock, not a fault. Touching and holding START for five seconds turns it on, and repeating it turns it off. Several of the most alarming things a Maytag display shows are settings rather than failures.

Do you service Maytag induction cooktops?

No. Induction is outside our scope across every brand, so a model badge beginning MI is not something we can help with. We will say so on the phone rather than send a technician.

What cooking appliances does Maytag make, and does Maytag make gas and electric ranges?

Ranges in both fuels, wall ovens, cooktops, microwaves and ventilation. We cover the first three. A Maytag cooking appliance not working is worth describing by shape when you call, because that decides the code index.

Is Maytag a good brand for cooking appliances, and how long do Maytag ranges last?

On service-call evidence the ranges hold up and parts stay available. We publish no service life figure because Maytag does not, and every number circulating online is unsourced.

Is it worth fixing a Maytag stove?

Usually. A sensor, an element, an igniter or a latch motor is routine. Maytag stove and oven repair cost moves with the fuel and the part, so we diagnose before quoting rather than after.

Do you cover Maytag range service near me across the metro?

Yes, and Maytag kitchen appliance repair too. The same technicians cover ranges, wall ovens and cooktops throughout the Denver Metro Area.

Which Denver Metro areas do you cover?

The whole metro, from the city out through the surrounding suburbs. Coverage for the city itself sits on our appliance repair in Denver page.

Maytag Oven or Cooktop Down?

Tell us the model badge when you book. MER or MGR settles the fuel, and the display settles which code list applies.
