Amana Range Hood Repair in Denver Metro

The Hood Over Your Amana Range in Denver Metro

Amana range hood repair starts with one fact: none of the hoods Amana.com lists beside its ranges carries the Amana name. So this page covers those hoods, and the hood over your Amana range whatever its label. An over-the-range microwave vents a range too. It is still a microwave, and we do not take those.

Some of what looks like a fault is written into the hood’s own manual. Take the WVW57UC0F and WVW57UC6F wall canopies. Their blower stops only on a second press of the off and minimum button.

Which Hoods Amana.com Lists, by Type

Find your hood below by its model number. That number decides the bulb, the filter and how high the hood hangs, so it matters more than any label. Each hood record on Amana.com names another brand or none at all. Not one reads Amana, so we name these hoods by model number.

Away from its Hoods page, Amana.com also lists under-cabinet hoods such as the UXT4030AD, UXT4130AD and UXT4236AD. None of those carries the Amana name either.

Our Amana cooking appliances page sets the hood beside the range below it and the oven inside that range.

  • Wall canopy: the 30-inch WVW57UC0F, the 36-inch WVW57UC6F and the 36-inch glass WVW75UC6D, plus the 24-inch UXW7324B.
  • Under-cabinet: the 30-inch UXT3030AD and UXT2030AD, and the 30-inch WVU17UC0J with full-width grease filters.
  • Retractable downdraft: the 30-inch UXD8630DY and 36-inch UXD8636DY, which install directly behind a cooktop and rise from the counter when started.

Where the Label Sits on Each Type of Hood

Read the label first, because the model number decides which manual, filter and warranty paper apply. The label also carries the electrical rating and the clearances its installation must meet.

On Amana.com, the manuals page places the hood label on the left-hand side of the rear wall, underneath the hood. The model-number page says underneath the unit once it is installed. The hood manuals narrow that down by type. Look first at these spots.

  • Under-cabinet UXT3030AD and UXT2030AD

Inside the hood, on its left wall.

  • Under-cabinet WVU17UC0J

Its manual names two spots: the left wall inside the hood, and the rear wall behind the filter.

  • Wall canopies WVW57UC0F, WVW57UC6F and UXW7324B

Behind the left grease filter, on the rear wall of the hood.

  • Downdraft UXD8630DY and UXD8636DY

On the front of the vent body, above the terminal box cover.

  • The 36-inch glass WVW75UC6D

Start from the two Amana.com spots above.

First Checks on a Hood That Has Stopped

Before you book, run the checks the hood manuals leave to the owner.

  1. Power: a hood that will not run at all may have a tripped breaker or a blown fuse. If it keeps happening on a downdraft, its manual says to call an electrician.
  2. A spill into the downdraft: the UXD8630DY and UXD8636DY manual says to switch it off at once and turn off its breaker. Then let it dry on its own, and do not open it to get the water out.
  3. A wall switch: the UXT3030AD, UXT2030AD and WVU17UC0J can be wired to a switch on the wall. That switch then runs motor and light at the settings left on the hood.
  4. Bulbs: the UXT3030AD takes a 120 V bulb of 75 W at most, with an E26 base. If a new one stays dark, check that it is seated.
  5. Halogen and LED: the UXW7324B takes a 12 V, 20 W G-4 halogen lamp, never touched with bare fingers. Only a service technician replaces the LED lamps on the WVW57UC0F and WVW57UC6F.
  6. Grease filters: wash the UXT3030AD and canopy filters in the dishwasher or a hot detergent solution as needed. The WVU17UC0J and the downdraft take warm water, dish liquid and a non-abrasive brush.
  7. Charcoal filters: they cannot be washed. The canopy manuals give one up to 6 months of normal use.
  8. Dampers: the UXT3030AD, WVW57UC0F and WVW57UC6F manuals say to check that the backdraft dampers open and close. If the wall or roof cap has its own damper, those manuals and the WVU17UC0J manual say not to use the hood’s.

Over an Amana Range: Airflow, Clearance and Height

Amana’s gas range documents warn against any ventilation that blows air down toward the range. The AGG222VD, AGR4203MN, AGR6303MM and AGR5330BA documents name the risk: ignition and combustion problems, injury or unintended operation. Our Amana range page covers the burners themselves.

Three of Amana’s range installation documents, for the AEP222VA, AGG222VD and AGR4203MN, set the cabinet clearance above the cooking surface. Allow at least 30 inches to the bottom of an unprotected wood or metal cabinet. Allow 24 inches where that bottom is covered with at least 1/4-inch flame-retardant millboard under the sheet metal those documents specify. The hood’s own instructions govern how high it hangs.

Those documents, and the ones for the AGR6303MM and AGR5330BA, say storage directly above the burners is best avoided. Where there is storage, a hood projecting at least 5 inches past the cabinet bottoms reduces the risk of burns or fire. That risk comes from reaching over the burners.

The hood manuals then differ by type. The WVW57UC0F, WVW57UC6F and UXW7324B canopies hang at least 27 inches over a gas cooking surface, and 24 over electric. The UXT3030AD and UXT2030AD ask 24 inches over either, and suggest 30 at most.

Amana’s manual for the 20-inch AEP222VA adds two habits for a range with a hood. Clean the hood and its filter often, so grease does not build up. Turn the fan on when flambéing food under it.

What Looks Like a Fault but Is in the Manual

None of these hoods has a display, and no manual we read for them prints an error code. A hood shows trouble only by what it does. Several of those behaviors are documented, model by model, in the table below. Past them, a hood that still will not run, light or rise has a fault worth a visit.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Book us once the checks above are done and the hood still will not run, light, change speed or rise. What is left sits inside the hood. That means the motor, the speed and light switches and the wiring. On a downdraft it includes the parts that raise and lower the vent.

I usually ask for the model number from the hood’s label first. I also ask whether it vents outside or recirculates. Those two details decide the lamp, the filter and which paper governs.

Our insured technicians repair the hood over your range in your own kitchen, across the Denver Metro Area. We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts. Every paid repair carries our 100-day labor warranty. It covers the work on your invoice.

Replacing a hood on the existing ductwork is a separate job, on our range hood installation page. For a repair, book online with the model number ready.

Recall Records and These Hoods

CPSC’s records hold no range hood recall under the Amana name, and its hood recalls name none of the hoods Amana.com lists. We read the label before any repair anyway.

The Warranty Papers for These Hoods, and After Year One

The warranty documents Amana.com serves for these hoods give one year of parts and repair labor. They exclude bulbs, filters and corrections to the installation. For any hood, the paper that came in the box is the one that governs.

  • Inside year one

The covered repair goes through the contact printed on the hood’s own warranty. We are not that service, and we will point you there.

  • Also excluded

Removing a hood boxed in by cabinetry or trim, and any hood whose serial number is removed or altered.

  • The WVW75UC6D

The documents Amana.com serves for it do not agree, so we state no term. Read the paper that came with the hood.

  • After year one

The repair is yours to buy and ours to do, with our 100-day labor warranty on the work.

Amana Range Hood Repair FAQ

  • Which range hoods does Amana.com list?

Wall canopies, under-cabinet hoods and retractable downdrafts, such as the WVW57UC0F, the UXT3030AD and the UXD8630DY. Amana.com files each one under another brand or none, never under Amana.

We repair any of them, and whatever hood hangs over your Amana range.

  • Where is the model number on the hood over my range?

The spot depends on the model. On the under-cabinet UXT3030AD and UXT2030AD, look inside the hood on its left wall. The manual for the under-cabinet WVU17UC0J names two spots: the left wall inside the hood, and the rear wall behind the filter. On the WVW57UC0F, WVW57UC6F and UXW7324B wall canopies, look behind the left grease filter on the rear wall.

On the UXD8630DY and UXD8636DY downdrafts, the label sits on the front of the vent above the terminal box cover. For the glass WVW75UC6D, start from Amana.com’s two spots. One is the left-hand side of the rear wall, underneath the hood. The other is underneath the unit.

Copy every letter, because the number decides the bulb, the filter and the warranty paper.

  • How often should I clean the filters in my range hood?

No hood manual we read sets a schedule for the metal grease filter. Wash it when it needs it. Amana’s AEP222VA manual says to clean the hood and its filter often.

A charcoal filter is different. It cannot be washed, and the canopy manuals give it up to 6 months of normal use.

  • How high should a hood hang above an Amana gas range?

The hood’s own instructions decide it. The WVW57UC0F, WVW57UC6F and UXW7324B canopies ask at least 27 inches over gas, and the UXT3030AD and UXT2030AD ask 24.

The AEP222VA, AGG222VD and AGR4203MN installation documents add the cabinets. They ask at least 30 inches to an unprotected cabinet bottom, or 24 to one protected as they specify. Our Amana range page covers the range itself.

  • Do you repair over-the-range microwaves that vent the range?

No. An over-the-range microwave vents the range, but it is a microwave, and we do not take those. That includes Amana’s own over-the-range models.

  • Do you repair the hood whatever label it carries?

Yes. Our insured technicians repair the hood over your Amana range in your kitchen, whatever its label, across the Denver Metro Area. Our Amana page covers your other Amana machines.
