Insured GE Repair in Denver Metro: Cooking Appliances

GE Cooking Appliance Repair Across Denver Metro

Every GE cooking appliance repair starts with one question: range, wall oven, built-in cooktop or range hood? Each has its own page, the oven cavity has a fifth, and a first-year defect goes to GE’s warranty service. Our insured Denver Metro technicians cover the rest.

Range, Cooktop or Hood: Which GE Page Is Yours

A range puts burners and oven in one body. Our GE range page covers it, drop-ins included. A cooktop set into the counter carries its own model number, even above a wall oven, and goes to the GE cooktop page. GE approves only certain cooktops over certain wall ovens, and a label on the oven names the approved models.

Above the range, the third letter of the model number names the unit. On current GE models, X or W there marks a hood. Our GE range hood page covers those, plus the JN327, which carries neither letter. An M, as in JVM or JNM, marks an over-the-range microwave, and we do not service those.

The Oven Cavity Has Its Own Page, in a Range or a Wall Oven

A GE gas range with lit burners and a cold oven goes to the GE oven page. So does a wall oven cavity: the cavity decides, not the cabinet around it. Most display codes go there too, since GE keeps one code chart for its ranges and wall ovens. A wall oven that has to come out of its cabinet goes to the GE wall oven page.

  • Range page

Surface burners and elements, their igniters, drop-in and slide-in fit, and the anti-tip bracket.

  • Oven page

Bake and broil heat, the temperature sensor, display codes and the self-clean lock, in a range or a wall oven.

  • Wall oven page

The built-in unit, single, double or combination: its cutout, cooling fan, door hinges and removal for service.

Induction and Dual Fuel Carry the GE Profile Badge

GE’s catalog lists no GE-badge induction range, induction cooktop or dual-fuel range, current or discontinued. Every induction and dual-fuel model it lists wears the GE Profile badge, and current ones start with P. We do not service induction cooktops at all. GE Profile machines are on our GE Profile page.

The UVW8361, UVW8364 and UVW9361 hoods share manuals with GE’s UVW models, yet wear the GE Profile badge. The Advantium PSA9120 that GE files with its over-the-range microwaves is also GE Profile, and we do not service it. Café, Monogram and Hotpoint start at our GE brand page.

GE’s Warranty Clocks: One Year, 90 Days, 48 Hours

GE’s written warranties for its home ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and hoods start three clocks: at purchase, at installation and at delivery.

GE asks for proof of the original purchase date. Without it, GE sets the warranty period from the manufacturing date in the serial number. GE also excludes improper installation, resetting a tripped breaker, and bulbs other than LED lamps. On glass tops, it excludes damage from impact, from cleaners other than its recommended creams and pads, and from hardened sugary spills.

  • One year from purchase

Parts and labor for a defect in materials or workmanship.

  • 90 days from installation

Since January 1, 2022, chips, scratches or baked-on residue on a glass cooktop must be reported inside that window.

  • 48 hours from delivery

Surface rust, tarnish or small blemishes on the finish must be reported inside that window.

When to Call Wilson & Myers

Start with the owner checks on your machine’s page. Four details turn the first visit into a diagnosis rather than a guess. None of them needs a tool. I usually ask for the model number first, because a GE drop-in range and a cooktop over a wall oven look alike.

Gas work, hard-wired built-ins and a wall oven that has to leave its cabinet are work for a technician. Ours are insured, and every repair carries our 100-day labor warranty. We source parts through national supplier networks and manufacturer contracts. Book the repair online with these four details ready.

  1. Model number: every character on the rating label, extra letters included.
  2. Serial number: its first two letters give the month and year the unit was built.
  3. Fuel: natural gas, propane after a conversion, or electric.
  4. Layout: one range, or a cooktop above a separate wall oven with two model numbers.

GE Cooking Appliance FAQ

Is a GE JD630 or JM250 drop-in a range or a cooktop?

A range. Both hang from the countertop with the oven built into the same body. Surface faults go to the range page, and oven faults to the oven page.

Why is the model number on my GE rating label longer than the one GE lists online?

GE adds extra letters or numbers when the unit is built and prints them on the rating plate. GE says those identify the exact appliance for service and parts. So give us the full plate number.

Can a GE gas range or cooktop run on propane?

Yes, after a conversion. Both leave the factory set for natural gas, and GE assigns the change to a qualified propane gas installer. Tell us when you book if yours was converted.

Does Denver Metro’s altitude matter for a GE gas range or cooktop?

GE sets a high-altitude kit rule in each gas range and gas cooktop installation guide, and our GE range and GE cooktop pages quote it.

I bought a home with a GE range under a year old. Is it still covered?

Yes, within a year of the original purchase. GE extends its range warranty to any succeeding owner of a range bought for home use in the USA.

Who should repair a GE cooking appliance that is under a year old?

GE’s warranty service, when the fault is a defect, because GE’s warranty covers parts and labor for that year. GE’s current 5000 series wall oven manual excludes service GE did not arrange, parts included. Once the year is up, book with us.
